Hi I'm Kerri

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Utah and love it.

About Me

I am a 34 yr old stay at home mother of 2 boys. My oldest boy is 8 years old and was just baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My youngest is 2 years old and keeps me busy with everything a 2 year old does. My husband and I both grew up in Southern Utah and have a great love of hiking, biking, and golf. We like to play games together as a family and are trying to be more active in our daily routine. My husband and I both attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT where I received my Bachelor degree in Business Management with a finance emphasis and he received his Bachelor and Master degree in Information Systems. We moved to San Antonio about 4 years ago. My husband works at USAA in computers and I will be serving on the PTA Executive board at my child's elementary next year. As I look back at all that I have accomplished in life, it may not sound like a lot, but I worked hard for all I have. I am very grateful to Heavenly Father for blessing me with it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. I was baptized when I was 8 years old. Although I have grown up with LDS standards, I have really come to love the LDS church and it's teachings. I believe in them wholeheartedly. Jesus Christ was a real person. He was and is the Son of God. He lived and died on this earth, and lived again. The Bible teaches us this. The Book of Mormon is another testament of his life, death, and resurrection. I believe Joseph Smith saw God, the Father, and Jesus Christ. I believe that this church is restored in it's fullness from the time Jesus reigned on the earth. I believe He still speaks with prophets today. I believe religion is more that just going to church. At some point you have to choose to believe or not to believe. If you believe, you should be obedient and live the commandments. It's that simple. I believe that family is central to our Heavenly Father's plan for us. Through temple ordinances we can live with our family members for eternity (even with my adopted 2 year old son). We will not be parted upon physical death. We will be together forever. I believe there is a plan for us. There is a plan for each and every life. Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to live a righteous life so that we might return to live with Him when this earthly life is finished. Bad things may happen to us or we may sin, but by choosing to learn from these challenges, we can be happy. Heavenly Father's plan is a plan of happiness. I have seen these blessings in my own life and know this to be true. I am a Mormon because I choose to be. I am a Mormon for the safety and security for my family. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith as much as I can by keeping the commandments, living as honestly as possible, trying not to give or take offense, and loving and serving others and my family. From day to day, I just try to do what is right. I go to church every week. I try to attend all the church meetings. By attending often, I am able to keep spiritual things in the front of my thoughts and therefore my actions. In our ward, I am currently a chorister for the Relief Society class. I love music and strive to better my musical skills. With resources provided by the church and the internet, I am teaching myself to play the piano. Playing the hymns on the piano brings peace to my home. Visiting the Temple and renewing covenants I made there gives me an eternal perspective, clarity of mind, and peace. It is nourishing to my soul and gives me the strength and courage to live my life in accordance with God's will.
