Hi I'm Sophia

I'm a wife, a photographer, and a crafter. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent college grad with a degree in Math and Science and a newly wed. I spend most of my free-time photographing, surfing the web, crafting, and shopping at thrift stores. I love to bake yummy foods, read fictional books, crochet hats, and sew quiet books. I know a little Spanish, French, and Russian. I have a personal goal to become fluent in a language besides English. I am always striving to be a better me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the Gospel is true. The only time I have ever been truly happy has been when I've been keeping the Commandments, and staying true to what the Prophets have revealed. I know that this church is true; I know my Savior lives, and loves me--and that he died for me, so that I could live.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by fulfilling my church callings. I am the 2nd counselor in the Primary Presidency (the group of members that live around me). I teach Primary kids (children 3-11) about our Savior and the Atonement of Christ. I am also a visiting teacher. This means I have certain female members of my ward I am supposed to visit, teach, and assist when possible. When I have time, I visit some of the elderly women in my area. They've taught me so many interesting things, like how to sew, crochet, and make meringue cookies. More importantly, however, they've taught me the importance of the principle the Savior taught us in Matthew. "...Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes! Mormons are Christians. Webster's New World dictionary defines "Christian" as "a person professing belief in Jesus as the Christ, or in the religion based on the teachings of Jesus." We, as Mormons, believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved. Not only do we believe in Christ, we follow Christ and what he teaches us in the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and through his Prophets in these latter-days. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe that God is the ruler of the universe, and the father of our Spirits. We believe that he loves us, that he is perfect, just, and kind. We also believe that we, His children, are made in his image, and that since He loves us and we are His children, He loves us each, and knows us individually. We believe that God has a plan to help us find joy and return to live with Him when we are through with this life. We believe that he has a body--and that it looks like ours. However, we believe that God's body is immortal and perfected. Show more Show less
