Hi I'm Sawyer

Life is great. I love food, movies, and a good laugh. Scratch and sniff this photo to smell the cologne of a mormon!

About Me

I graduated from high school in 2009. Afterwards, I worked in a butcher shop for a year or so before leaving home to serve an LDS mission. Some of my hobbies include snowboarding, paintballing and cooking. Music is one of my favorite things in the whole world. I love playing the guitar and singing. My family is the greatest family in the entire world. My four siblings and I are the best of friends. We love hanging out with each other. My parents are the best parents I could ever ask for, and I look up to them so much. Some of my fondest memories involve things as simple as family road trips, or sitting around with my family watching movies. In my future I hope to become a life-flight pilot. I know I want to raise a happy family just like the one I grew up in. Whatever life brings, I want to be happy, content and have fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the more I continue to learn, the more I love it. Growing up in this church has meant everything to me. Admittedly, while I was growing up in it, I took it for granted. But now, looking back I plainly see that this gospel has lead me, and continues to lead me, through this life safely in the arms of Christ. It has given me peace and direction. I know I am a child of God and I know what He expects of me. That knowledge in and of itself is a priceless blessing to me. I belong to this church because I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. This is the only church that teaches from it. The Holy Ghost has witnessed the truth of the Book of Mormon to me time after time. By living this gospel I am assured that I will be with my family when we leave this life. I am so grateful to member of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving a mission. I have been called by a living prophet to give two years of my life to the Lord. By choice, I have left behind all personal affairs to help spread the message of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Sawyer
Joseph Smith was a mortal man whom we do not worship. He was not perfect. He has no eternal power of himself. It is our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, that worked through Joseph Smith, that we worship. We love and respect Joseph Smith for the tremendous personal sacrifices that he made. But, no, we do not worship him. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Sawyer
Amazing. There is nothing else like it in the entire world. I cannot begin to describe the joy that comes from making covenants, or sacred promises with God. It provides us with such peace and direction. Without these things, I have no idea where I would be in the world. I can't imagine it would be a good place. Are we judged for our beliefs? Yes. Are there hundreds of rumors and misconceptions about us? Yes. Is it worth it? You'd better believe it. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Sawyer
The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead. Unlike Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost does not have a physical body. For that reason, His influence can dwell in our hearts. He is the messenger of truth. His role is to bear witness of God and His Son, Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon teaches that by the power of the Holy Ghost we may know the truth of all things. After proper and authorized baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost may be given by the laying on of hands. The gift of the Holy Ghost is the promise that we will always feel His influence if we remain worthy. With the Holy Ghost as our constant companion, we will be more receptive to spiritual truths, protected from spiritual and physical dangers, and filled with peace. There is no substitute for the lasting peace which is given through the gift of the Holy Ghost. I know that the Holy Ghost is real, and I feel His loving guidance continually. I would not trade this gift for anything. Show more Show less
