Hi I'm Robert Ford

I am a computer nerd, I am a sports fan, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on both coasts and love the beach. I am a self-proclaimed computer nerd though I also love sports. I have been tearing apart and rebuilding computers since I was eight years old and now I architect technical solutions for a large multi-national company. I have a beautiful wife and awesome kids. Life is not perfect though we are able to get through the bumps pretty good.

Why I am a Mormon

Primarily I have found peace and happiness in the teachings of this religion. I believe them to be true and have faith in their words. Secondarily I see how these teachings bring peace and joy into the lives of others and I know that this world could use more of it. I cannot think of any specific moment where I had that "ahaa" experience to know that these teachings are true. It is more of a collection of small experiences where the Spirit has touched me in some way to help me understand a principle and as time went on I looked back on those collection of small experiences and I realized that I do have a testimony. I have prayed many times over different elements of the Gospel and I have received the comforting assurance that Paul talks about in Galations 5 from the Spirit to testify that what I was praying about is true.

How I live my faith

My testimony is a collection of things that I hope for, things that I believe and things that I know, with the last being the smaller portion. There is no way for a person to know all things (though at times I may act like I do). Some days I may know one thing and tomorrow it is only a belief. Our knowledge is based upon exercising faith. There are two things that I know for sure, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and loves us with all he has and that it is through our exercise of faith that we can learn to know about his Gospel and our place in this life. The foundation of who we are is the collection of beliefs that we hold on to. The foundation of our character is our exercising of faith based upon those beliefs. We are who we are because of what we do in life. If a person wants to be someone of great character then they must hold to their beliefs and life them. I am nowhere near perfect and I make mistakes all the time. As a result my character and my knowledge is affected. I love God with all my heart even though I am not perfect in showing it. I love the peace that his Spirit brings me when I think on the words of his prophets and his many good works in my life. I know that I would not be the man that I am today without him and that his influence is what has shaped me to be who I am today. It is through the words of the prophets and through the inspiration of the Spirit that he talks to us and guides us if we will only listen and heed those words and promptings.
