Hi I'm James

I grew up in Colorado. I love the outdoors, so I'm a Scoutmaster. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband, father of two young boys, reliability engineer, scoutmaster/young men president (small ward...also fill in as organist sometimes), and enjoy archery, woodworking, photography, repelling, hiking, camping, and piano/organ.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are converts, they were converted before they met in their early 20s. While I was in seminary I was reading the story of Ammon in the Book of Mormon. I really enjoyed reading about a guy who defends sheep by chopping arms off, so it was easy for me to get into the story. As I started to read about Ammon teaching King Lamoni, I realized that the story I was reading was true, that it happened many years ago. I had been praying to know if the church really was true most of that year in seminary and when I prayed again after reading this story, I knew that the Book of Mormon was true, and realized that I had know it for some time before reading the story of Ammon.

How I live my faith

I am a scoutmaster, president of the group of young men in the ward ages 12-18, and fill in as organist occasionally...small ward. I encourage the youth to work on their Duty to God by serving, reading the scriptures, praying, and stay physically fit through the scouting program.

What is the Book of Mormon?

It is a second witness of Jesus Christ, and takes place on the American continent starting around 600 B.C. and continuing to 421 A.D. It is written by prophets who foretold Christ's birth. It contains an account of Christ's visit to the American continent after his resurrection, and how He established his church among the people here. It complements the Bible, and adds the witness of another nation that Jesus lives. Show more Show less
