Hi I'm Rachel

Tried and true, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

1. I do the best imitation of myself. 2. I like to sing the instrumental parts to songs. Example, Simon and Garfunkle's "The Boxer"-- (Lai lai lai! Psh...) 3. I have recently become a fan of sushi. Thank you to my new Chinese sister-in-law. 4. I want to meet Barbara Streisand and have said so in many a scholarship interview. 5. I have been to Europe but not Hawaii, which I just think is wrong. 6. I can speak with many accents. 7. My little brother plays the piano for me while I sing. We will do this again when he returns from his mission. 8. Accessory of choice would be earrings. They say a lot about a person. 9. When I'm bored in a meeting or a class I frequently sign my name over and over. 10. I enjoy using large words in everyday conversation. 11. I am bothered when people give performances standing ovations when they don't deserve them. It cheapens those that DO warrant ovations. 12. I always set my alarm clock for odd numbers. Never 6:00, but 6:01. 13. I cannot do a full split, either side or center. 14. Deep bodies of water freak me out. I swear something is living down there like Nessie. It might eat me. 16. My sister used to try and make me eat cucumbers by cutting them into airplane shapes. I dislike them to this day. 17. I wear a size 12 in women's shoes. No kidding. My toes are just long. 18. I eat the skin of the kiwi fruit. Every time.

Why I am a Mormon

A friend asked me about a couple of months ago with contempt, how I could possibly know with a certainty the Jesus lived. That His presence and priesthood were here on the earth today. That the Church of Jesus Christ was true. My answer was simple. I have not had a great angelic visitor. I have not heard a heavenly voice. I have not seen God. But I do know how Christ makes me feel. I do know how keeping God's commandments makes me happy. I do know that by studying about Jesus, I can know Him more personally. I do know that when I study and pray about our Savior that I am overcome with emotion. Reverence. Gratitude. Love. I know that the way to gain a personal confirmation of Christ is to be like Him. I know that my Redeemer Lives and that he speaks to our time today through his Prophet Thomas Monson. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Every week I use my knowledge of choral music to lead my ward. I am the Music Committee Leader. I visit and teach three women in my ward.
