Hi I'm Morgan

I'm a student, I'm a husband, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student pursuing an accounting degree. I have accepted an opportunity to intern with one of the Big 4 accounting firms next summer with the intent of working there full-time upon graduation. I have been happily married since 2009, and love spending time with my wife. My wife and I both grew up as the youngest of eight children in our families. We are blessed to have positive influences from our large family. I enjoy playing football, basketball, and almost any other sport. I also enjoy going to concerts with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the happiness that comes from living a life focused on the gospel of Jesus Christ. While happiness can exist in many different forms and in many different places, I have witnessed the happiness and blessings that were present in my home as I grew up. I was fortunate to be raised in a home that taught me valuable principles, but I know that there are many people who did not have the opportunity to be reared by a strong family. Serving a mission for the church helped me see that the gospel has the power to change lives and bring happiness to those who seek it. As I think about raising a family in this modern world, I am fearful of the challenges that my children will face. My knowledge and understanding of the gospel gives me the peace I need to ensure that the teachings of Jesus Christ can help my children face and overcome the challenges and temptations they face. I know that happiness is obtainable in troublesome times by living a life centered on Jesus Christ and striving to be like Him.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith by being a positive influence on others. I try to be someone that others would enjoy spending time with. I enjoy the opportunities that the Church gives me to serve others in need. I have found some of the richest blessings in my life by serving others.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries who serve in the Church will teach the fundamental principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Specifically, missionaries will help you understand how the original church that Jesus Christ established while he was on the earth was brought back in modern times. The principles of faith, repentance, and baptism that were taught back in Christ's day are the same principles that are taught in the LDS church. Missionaries will help people understand our purpose of life on earth through what is known as the Plan of Salvation. This plan teaches us that we came from the presence of God before we born, and that we are put on this earth in an ongoing effort to return to live with Him. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The simplest way to know that Mormonism is true is through reading the Book of Mormon and praying to find the truth. God does answer our prayers. For me, I have personally come to understand that the Church is true by the good things that come from it. The scriptures teach us that if the fruits that come from a tree are good, then the tree must be good as well. I use this principle in every facet of my life. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

A common misconception people have is that Joseph Smith authored the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon, however, is similar to the Bible in that it is a compilation of records and accounts as told through various prophets in ancient times. The Book of Mormon follows the lives of ancient prophets who lived in the Americas. The individual accounts of these prophets was later translated by the Prophet Joseph Smith in the early 1800's to what is now the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
