Hi I'm Dan

I'm a happy dad with 6 kids. I live in NW Arkansas, love Jesus, books on my Kindle, sports, and photography. Oh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married to the love of my life for 18 years and we have six awesome kids! My family is committed to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I work for Coca-Cola, and I live in North West Arkansas, USA, to be near everyone's favorite retailer, Walmart. I love books, I'm a photographer, I coach my kid's sports teams, and I'm a forever fan of the Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--the Mormon Church--and have been committed my entire life. There was a time when I was a teenager, however, when I found myself feeling a strong desire to know that I believed in the Mormon church because I KNEW it was true, not because my parents TOLD me it was true. I began to study not only the doctrines of the Mormon Church, but also I explored the ideas that other churches taught. I spent a significant amount of effort studying The Book of Mormon. I decided that because the Mormon Church claims a divine origin of The Book of Mormon, the validity of the church hinges on the validity of the book. There is a passage near the end of The Book of Mormon that says if I ask God, he would tell me if The Book of Mormon is true. So that's what I did. I prayed and asked God to give me the knowledge I was searching for. It worked! I still remember the feeling of peace that came over me as I prayed--I felt complete confidence that The Book of Mormon was true. It's a feeling I have felt many more times since then. Today I am proud to say I know for myself The Book of Mormon is true--and along with it the Mormon Church. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that His way is the only way back to return to my Father in Heaven. This knowledge is the source of all the joy in my life!

How I live my faith

I raise my children in the Mormon Church, just like my parents raised me. We pray and have family scripture study each night. Every Monday night is dedicated to "Family Home Evening," where we sing, play games, eat treats, have fun, and teach gospel lessons from the Bible and The Book of Mormon. We aren't Mormon's only on Sundays. For us it's more than just a religion--it's our way of life! When I was 19 I left home for two years to be a missionary for the Mormon Church in Russia. Since then I've served in many capacities in my local congregation. Currently, I serve as an early morning Seminary Teacher, where I teach a scripture study class for High School School students each morning before school.
