Hi I'm Jacob

I am a Sport Fan. I love cheesecake. I am a snowboard fanatic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports, and that includes anything. I love to snowboard in the winter time, and wakeboard in the summer time. I will play anything if it includes a ball and some competition. i played sports in high school and still love to play pick-up games. I love to use my hands and create things. I love to build things out of wood, play the piano, and i love tile work. I am about to start college and i am planning on becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon. Its 13 years of hard work, but i love to do hard things.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to grow up in a family that was already apart of the church. However, just like anyone that grew up with the traditions of being in a mormon household; at some point, you kind of get backed up against the wall of those beliefs that you were taught. Its then that you have to find out if those beliefs are right, or if they are wrong. I got backed into the wall and i wanted to find out for myself. I started to study the Bible and the Book of Mormon and the life of the Savior. Then i started to apply the things that the church said and the doctrines i had found in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I tried to focus on how i felt about these things, rather than what i was learning since i knew that often times, truth is told through our feelings. I knew that if i listened to how i was feeling, that God would help me to know if it was true or not. After a while, i reviewed my life again and i noticed that i had more peace in my life, i felt happier, i had gotten answers to my questions, and i honestly felt like my relationship with God had gotten better. I knew that this was the truth, not because i believed it, and not because my parents told me, but because i lived it and it had become part of me and had made me more like Jesus Christ and what he is all about.

How I live my faith

I love to do service. There isn't anything more satisfactory than getting together with the people around me and helping others in need. I have seen many hours spent from people in the church coming to the rescue of people who have certain needs. I try to take on the name of Jesus Christ. Anything that i feel that the Savior would do, i try to do. I certainly don't always do the best, but i try to reach a hand to my neighbors, or send a friendly smile their way. I also served a full-time mission for my church. I spent 2 years in the pan-handle of Florida and the lower third of Alabama. I had a chance to work in many different areas, meet lots of people, and teach others about the truthfulness of the gospel. I saw many lives touched and saw people change their lives and find happiness and peace.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Jacob
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. In the Bible, God told truths about who He was, who Jesus Christ was, and how His children could get back to Him. He told these truths to men who were called to write these truths down and then to go tell the people about them. The Book of Mormon is very similar in that God also called men in Ancient America to write down his truths and teach the people about them. God also knew that the Bible would go through a lot of hands and would have truths distorted and taken out, not to mention mere language translations; where words had to be changed. Because of this, we believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. God also had the same truths taught in America and written down so that He could bring forth a second witness about the Divinity of Jesus Christ and about Truths that had been lost.
