Hi I'm Andy

"I grew up in a small town in Idaho. I am active and goal oriented. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy a good challenge. I have a supportive family where we encourage one another to do our best. Sports of many kinds have always been a good outlet for me. I enjoy setting goals and working to meet the goals I set. I also enjoy the outdoors including: water skiing and wake boarding. I enjoy meeting and getting to know new people.

Why I am a Mormon

Raised in the Church, I was baptized at eight years old. I was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ by diligent parents who desired that I have a happy life. In moving away from home, during college and while serving a two year mission, my belief of what I had been taught as a youth was strengthened as I faced life's challenges away from home. My parents example and teachings were and are a great blessing in my life. However, that is not why I am a member of the Church today. I am a member of the Church because I have learned for my self, though personal study, faith, and prayer, through the Holy Ghost, that it is Christ's true Church restored. I know that Jesus Christ is "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6) and that I could not return and live with my Father in Heaven again with my family were it not for the Savior. Jesus Christ lives today and directs His Church through modern day prophets and apostles.

How I live my faith

I sincerely enjoy serving in the church. I've been blessed to be able to teach lessons, organize activities, and share my faith with members of the church as well as those who are not members of my faith. All of these activities have helped me to grow as a person and to get a glimpse of how are Father in Heaven views us all; as His sons and daughters. Helping those in need brings me a lot of fulfillment and I am grateful for plentiful opportunities provided by the church to help those in need in a organized, group effort.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith, like Moses in the Old Testament, was called by God to be a prophet. As a prophet in the modern times, Joseph Smith received the guidance from God to establish and lead His Church. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

I love this question! We believe that we are saved by grace. There is no possible way for me or anyone else to "earn" our way to Heaven. It is only through the Savior that we are saved. The Savior is our Mediator with the Father because He paid the price for our sins in what we call "The Atonement". As our Mediator, He asks and encourages us to "come unto Him"; to repent of our sins and to keep His commandments. As we daily strive to repent and keep His commandments the Atonement of Christ cleanses us, motivates us, and helps us. I really like a phrase from in the Book of Mormon that succinctly answers this question about grace: "for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." (2 Nephi 25:23). Ultimately, it is graceful gift of the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ that saves us. Show more Show less
