Hi I'm Samuel

I'm a Mormon, full-time Nursing Student, husband, and loving father.

About Me

I'm just a guy who wants to provide the best for his family! I grew up in a very small town in Southern Idaho called Bancroft. I met my wife when I was a Freshmen in high school in Soda Springs Idaho. I graduated high school and served a 2 year LDS mission in the Mississippi Jackson Mission. When I returned home, and my wife and I were engaged 3 months later, and we were married 5 months later. We found out that we were pregnant with our 1st born 6 months later. Its been 3 years and I just recently started Nursing School at the College of Southern Idaho located in Twin Falls Idaho. We now just welcomed a newborn boy into our lives, times get hard, especially when we have a toddler and a newborn while I attend school and work. Pennies are definitely pinching, but that is when we rely on our Savior the most.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I had amazing parents who wanted me to be happy, they made that possible by taking us to church every sunday and reading the scriptures and praying as a family every morning before school. Every time I go to church, I am surrounded by people who love me and want me to be happy, I love that kind of atmosphere. Whenever I read the Book of Mormon I feel my Savior's love for me, I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church. This church makes me happy and isn't that God's plan?

How I live my faith

I am a returned missionary from the Mississippi Jackson Mission. I work as a CNA at a nursing home. I got engaged three months after I returned home from my mission and was married five months after that. I am going to school for Physical Therapy. On my spare time, I play the piano and sing, and occasionally I will sing a tune or two for my beautiful wife.

Are Mormons Christians?

Mormons are most definately christians! Christian means a person or group that believes in Jesus Christ. That definately means that Mormons are Christian. Our faith is centered around Jesus Christ, "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission fo their sins." 2Nephi 25:26. I love my savior, I know that he died so that I may be saved from my sins. I know that Jesus is the Christ. I am a Christian. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

In the scriptures it says countless times that "no unclean thing can enter into the presence of God". The reason why some Mormons can't go to the temple is because they are not worthy. The temple is the house of the Lord, so we need to be worthy to be in his presence. The temples are literally his houses. He dwells there. We can feel His presence there. In the Temples, we do work for the dead. We do baptisms for the dead and do proxy marriges for the dead. What is done in the temple is sealed on earth and in heaven. When I went through the Temple for the first time it was an amazing experience, I know that the temple is the house of the Lord. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

When I was a missionary, we went around and knocked on doors sharing a message about Jesus Christ and about His atoning sacrifice for all mankind and about our Father in Heaven's wonderful Plan of Salvation. This wonderful plan allows all people to return to Him again. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I think the big question is whether you believe that God still loves us. If he does, then yes, there really is a prophet like Moses alive on the earth today. If God didn't love or care about us, his children, he wouldn't send someone who can help us return back to Him. I know that God loves us and because he loves us he gave us a prophet to help "guide us in these latter days." Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is a record of prophets here in the ancient Americas and their dealings with the Gospel. I like to think of The Book of Mormon as a big giant journal, it is simply a record of an ancient civilization, it is a record of how they lived their life according to the Gospel. If you read The Book of Mormon and come to know that it is true, you will also know that Jesus Christ really is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We worship God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who restored the Gospel that Jesus Christ originally brought to the earth. We reverence and respect him for what he did. So, in a nutshell, we do not worship Joseph Smith. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

We believe that families can be together forever, through eternal marriage in the Temple. For me, knowing this makes me feel so happy knowing that even though that family members will eventually pass away I WILL see them again, that this isn't the end. I will be with my family for all eternity, and when I get married, I will be with my wife and my children for eternity. When I think of that, my soul is at rest, that marriage doesn't need to be "till death do you part". I am excited to get married in the temple, so that I can be married to my wife for time and eternity. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Think of it this way, If you were driving down the street going 100 miles an hour and all of a sudden you hear some music coming from behind you and you notice that it is the Ice Cream man, he signals you to pull over. So you pull over, he comes up to your window in his apron, and asks you, "Do you realize how fast you were going?" He then gives you a ticket, you tell him to take a hike and you drive away. This time you were speeding down the highway and the highway patrolman pulls you over. How is the highway patrolman different than the Ice Cream man? The difference is that the highway patrolman has authority and the Ice Cream man does not. This is the same idea of having authority to baptize. God has something called the Priesthood, it is the authority to act in the name of God. If you dont have that authority than you are just like the Ice Cream man. But when you have been given that authority, you are able to perform sacred ordinances such as baptism. Show more Show less
