Hi I'm Matt

I'm a husband and father of two. I'm a mechanical Engineer. I greatly enjoy woodworking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband to my wonderful wife, Kristen, and a father to my two precious children, Andrew (7) and Courtney (5). I am a mechanical engineer for Beall Manufacturing, Inc. in East Alton, IL. I design tooling for the production process, which includes the manufacture of heat treated steel products for the agricultural industry I also oversee the quality control of the products and processes. In my free time, I enjoy woodworking, especially woodturning. It's very theraputic for me. I also enjoy playing the piano, which has allowed my to be the ward organist for many years.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all of my life. It wasn't until I was in my twenties, though, that I actually converted. Until that time, I didn't pay much attention to what was being taught to me at church. I believed there was a God, and I passively believed that Jesus Christ was my savior. However, I chose to live a life that wasn't in accordance with church teachings. That life appeared to be much more enjoyable, and I easily fit in with my peers. However, the "fun" times never seemed to last, and I was always left feeling empty. Through all of this, I always felt that I was better than the sinner I had become, and I finally decided that I didn't want to live like this any more. From the few things I had gleaned from being a member of the church, I knew what I had to do, but I didn't know how. With the Help of my family I was able to overcome my difficulties. With temptation all around I'm thankful that I know about His church and the good news He has given us: that Jesus Christ lives, and that He is my savior. I know that as I do the best that I can in this life I will be able to return to live with God and Jesus Christ when my time on Earth is complete.

How I live my faith

Knowing that Heavenly Father knows who I am - my name, my interests, my weaknesses and my strengths - and knowing that He loves me and wants what is best for me helps me to keep going each day. Through scripture study, prayer, attending my church meetings, fulfilling my church responsibilities and living the principles of the gospel the best I can, I have slowly developed a testimony of Joseph Smith being a prophet of God and the divinity of the Book of Mormon.
