Hi I'm Sara
I am a mother, a wife, a children's illustrator, a natural health junkie, a birth advocate, and I'm a Mormon.
My name is Sara. I was born in 1987 and grew up in a small town in Rural West Central Wisconsin. I have spent most of my life drawing or creating things from my mind, or what is around me. In 2006 I married my high-school sweet heart and later that year we had our son. In 2008 our little family was sealed for Time and all Eternity in the St. Paul, Minnesota Temple. My family strives to care for our bodies in natural healthy ways by eating as much organic traditional foods, using the herbs God put on this earth for our medicine. My birthing experience is what fueled my love of all things childbirth and natural parenting. In 2010 I was contacted by a lovely author to illustrate a children's book on home water birth. From then on I have really tried to focus my creative energy into building a great portfolio. (Maybe one day I'll illustrate for Deseret Book :) I also love to create anything, from dollhouse miniatures, to the next tasty dish on our family's menu. When I am not busy creating, I can be found at home with my husband, son, and many many animals. I dream of being 100% self efficient and having our own homestead where we grow all our own food, and have our own way of making power. I also love to spend time with my family. They are the most important part of who I am. I love my family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I adore my son he lightens my spirit and I am madly in love with my husband and can't wait to spend Eternity with him. This is me, and I am a Mormon.
When I was sixteen I was your average lost and confused teenager. I wasn't listening for the Savior's love. Then I met a really good friend. She had been a member all her life. She told me the story of Ammon and I was hooked. I started to attend the regular church meetings I befriended others and ultimately gained a testimony of the Savior. I had a testimony of the Savior before but this time it was different, this time I felt I knew Him and He knew me. When I visited the branch that first time I felt home. I was instantly greeted and felt like everyone was family. The feeling you get when you feel the Savior's love is something you have to experience to be able to understand.
For a while I was in the Nursery teaching the 18 month to 3 year old children. The faith and spirituality of the little children is so amazing. I cannot believe the emotion that would arise when we spoke about our elder brother Jesus Christ. Now I am in the Primary (for children 3-12) and it is a humbling experience. I love children so much and you can see the purity in them and their closeness to God. I love to serve the branch and the children. Their spirits shine like the brightest star in Heaven. I see and feel the love Christ has for each of these children and that love makes it a complete blessing to work with and teach these children the simple doctrine that they will keep in their lives. At home my husband and I are raising our son to be a unique child of God. One who is not afraid to be who is really is. Our family personally does not attend public school. We believe our children will learn better at their own pace and at their own discretion. We try to make sure it is well known that everything in this world is related to Christ in some way. The temple is an important part of our lives. And it is very comforting to know I will be with my family for time and all eternity because of the covenants that we keep and the covenants that Heavenly Father promises to keep.
