Hi I'm Doug

I am the father of 5 beautiful children and the husband of an adoring, loving wife and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have owned and operated a general contracting firm for just over 20 years now and it has blessed my life in so many ways. I am also a commercial insurance broker working to help people protect their investments, their employees and their families. I have been a candidate for both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives campaigning as a strict Constitutionalist and fiscal Conservative. My ultimate goal is to put "We the People" back in the drivers seat of the American economic, political and value systems. I had to withdraw from the campaign due to a family illness but I will return to the political scene when and if the Lord feels fit.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. I received my testimoney when I was about 16 years old. I had the fortunate pleasure of meeting a young lady in high school who was a memeber of the church and she and her family invited me to church with them on a weekly basis. I will always be indebted to her for the example that she set, her testimony and for the strength and love that her family posessed. I still remember the feeling of my first Sacrament meeting... it was a Fast and Testimoney meeting. During the meeting I saw people who I respected getting up and bearing thier love for the Gospel and professing their love for Jesus Christ with such ease and such confidence that it overcame me...I can honestly say that I know what it is to be "moved by the Spirit". For some reason, even though I had a testimoney, it took me over 27 more years before I would be baptized...but during those 27 years is where the Lord truly prepared my heart. I always had a copy of The Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants and I always read them. No matter where I was, the Lord would find me with His missionaries and we would always have great discussions...He would consistently put His Saints in my pathway...no matter where I was, he never let me stray too far. It is only aparent to me now that the Lord was honing me...molding me and preparing me for the family that I have now... It is so obvious to me now that every single one of us is being lead toward the gospel through a promise that He made to us when we were in His presence combined with the promise that we made to Him when we said "good-by" ...and whether or not we hear, see and feel those promptings depends upon our ability to cut out the noise from this world...the noise that separates us from Him. But once we "hear" that peace...we feel his love and know that there is only one way...His way. I am a Mormon because my Heavenly Father asked me to be and He never gave up on me...not even once.

How I live my faith

There is no greater joy for me than the Love of my Saviour and my family. I have been a Blazer Leader, a Councilor in the Elders Quorum, a councilor in our Bishopric, a Gospel Doctrines Instructor, the High Priest Group Leader and now I am currently serving as a Stake Institute Instructor...probably my favorite calling of all. Although I am far from perfect, I try to live each moment knowing that my Saviour is beside me...watching every movement that I make and knowing every thought that I think...I don't believe that He is judging me as I walk through this life more than He is guiding me through it with His influence. The influence of how He lived, the influence that He gives me through our prophets both living and beyond the veil and the influence that he lends me through the Holy Spirit. Words can not express the freedom and peace that the Restored Gospel has brought into my life.
