Hi I'm Devan

I grew up in Colorado Springs, and now I'm going to college. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in college, studying Interior Design. I love to create things and I love art. I also love to sing. I play the piano and the flute, and I also love dancing. I didn't play any sports in high school, but I love to watch football and basketball. I am an Auburn Tigers fan :) I love to read in my spare time and I really enjoy fantasy fiction books. My favorite movie is Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. That's just a little about me! :D

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church my whole life. I have been raised in the Church and it has been such a blessing to me. I don't know where I would be without the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have found so much strength in the scriptures and especially in prayer. I continue to follow the gospel because I have prayed about it and have gained my own testimony and I am so much happier with the gospel in my life. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that it was inspired of God and that if you will just take the time to seriously read it, and sincerely pray about it, you can come to know of the truth of it too.

How I live my faith

Going to church gives me so much strength for the coming week and having the opportunity to take the sacrament every week is such a blessing. I am now a visiting teacher, which is a new experience, but it's been wonderful. Being able to visit people and share my testimony with them is such a neat thing and I really enjoy it. I love to live by example. I feel that I can be a greater influence that way. If I just show my friends my beliefs maybe they will feel something and ask questions. It is hard to keep my standards sometimes when a lot of my friends around me are not, but I know that as I keep my standards, my friends will respect me and my testimony will grow.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Being a woman in the Church has many blessings. Both men and women in the Church have their roles that they are needed for. Men hold the priesthood and are able to exercise it as long as they are worthy. They use the priesthood to help others and to further the work of the kingdom. Without the priesthood we could not preform baptisms or any of the other necessary ordinances needed for our salvation. Some people wonder why women can't hold the priesthood, and some think that it diminishes the role of women. This, however, is not true. We have our own important roles in the Church. We are responsible for the nurture and care of our children, which is so important because they are our future. We also have the responsibility to support the brethren in the priesthood and give them the opportunity to exercise their priesthood. We do believe in the equality of men and women and that we all have our specific roles and they are all equally important for the Church and families to function as a whole. Show more Show less
