Hi I'm Jared

I am a first year dental student, and I am Mormon.

About Me

I moved to Utah from Colorado shortly following the 7th grade. Throughout high school I played football and basketball as well as other sports. Shortly after I graduated from high school I chose to serve a mission, and was called to labor in Italy. I've kept Italy and much of Europe close to my heart ever since. My obsession with Europe eventually helped me find the woman I would marry while on a study abroad in England. I am currently studying to become a dentist and my wife and I are expecting our first baby! And yes, he will learn to speak Italian.

Why I am a Mormon

I have felt the influence and hand of God in my life. I simply prayed and sought to know if God truly existed. This knowledege is what laid the base for my belief in Jesus Christ and his restored gospel, which I found through multiple experiences. My activity in youth programs provided by the church and supported by men and women in my neighborhood taught me the value of Christ's teachings in the home and family. I love my God, and He has taught me how to become a better man, husband, and future father. As a Mormon I have found purpose in my life, and although I still have lots of unanswered questions I can always be sure that I'm headed in the right direction because of the gift of the Holy Ghost. I received this gift after I was baptized and confirmed at the age of eight. The influence of the Holy Ghost has acted as a compass in my life that has lead me to truth and understanding. I have seen with my own eyes the power that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ can have on families, and it is exactly what has helped hold my family together through the struggles of life. I am grateful to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Ever since my wife and I got married in the Oquirrh Mountain temple my faith and life have taken on new meaning. We chose to get married in the temple because we desire to have a relationship and sociality that will last forever. Together we are helping each other stay close to God by praying side by side every night. And because we value the word of God, we spend time reading from the Book of Mormon each night before going to bed. These and other habits have brought us closer together, and closer to the Lord.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Perhaps the best way to start is to communicate with Him. One can do so by praying. Prayer is simple, and is meant to be a conversation between you and your Heavenly Father. You address Him, let Him know what you are thankful for, ask Him for what you need, and conclude the prayer by saying "in the name of Jesus Christ, amen." Show more Show less
