Hi I'm Shanthi Arul

I live in India. I'm a homemaker. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life abundantly. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read books. I am a big fan of Harry Potter series. I enjoy teaching children. I love to spend time with my friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am generally a happy person. But there were so many questions nagging in my mind and there was a thirst in me to know the answers to them. I could not accept that men were born only to praise and worship God. It somehow projected God the wrong way. I could not accept a church where people freely bowed down to idols. In my own way, I started searching for the true church. I am thankful to my friend who first spoke to me about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thought I had heard a lot of gossip about this Mormon Church and did feel curious about the word "Mormon" , I had to know for myself about the truthfulness about the things that I heard. I am grateful for my decision, today I am an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My knowledge of the gospel has increased tremendously. Thought I sometimes receive the same curious looks (that i once gave to the believers of this church) from friends and relatives who do not know the truth, I am still happy and contented. I am happy to learn about these great and marvelous truths that each one of us is born so that we may have eternal increase and that one day we may be like our father in heaven. God loves us so much that He made the way for our salvation and exaltation. What makes me most happy is the knowledge that I am special, because I am a daughter of my Father in Heaven and He is mindful of me. PS: We are called Mormons because we have a great gift that helps us understand the Bible better. It is called the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

The best thing to do with one's faith is by living it. Here in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints each of us is given a chance to serve our fellow being. All the women actually ladies in the church are assigned to take care of one another by visiting them and providing fellowship. Inside the Church one has a big family. In the same way the men gentlemen of course also visit homes of families in the Church and administer with love and teach the word of God. No one is paid to do God's work. Each person gives off his time and talents to build and strengthen the work of God. One interesting thing is that young men and women give two years of their time to serve as missionaries and carry the gospel of Jesus Christ. As for myself, i live my faith by being mindful of the fact that each of us is a child of God. This reminds me to be friends with all and be kind in my words and actions. I visit some of those in my branch who might need a friend or companion. The bishop has asked me to teach English to sisters and brothers who do not know English. I am looking forward to this assignment.

What is being a Mormon like?

Shanthi Arul
It is the most exciting thing. Being a Latter-day saint helps me to know about the importance of my Family and that I can be eternally together with my family. One has friends worldwide who have the same beliefs and standards that I have. The Church is like a big family. I feel so because I am an only child and have very few cousins. I feel that the Church is my extended family. Moreover I get to know more about the scriptures and more about Heavenly Father and his love for me. Being a Mormon helps me to share my happiness with all by serving one another and in large by contributing to the society. Show more Show less
