Hi I'm Joshua

I Hunt, fish, snowboard and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to be around people a lot, however; I still love having some peace and quiet in order to think and to relax. I love my family a lot, and love to go fishing with them. I feel that family is one of the most important things in the world. I am in school right now studying economics, I am excited for the future!

Why I am a Mormon

My conversion is one that did not come all at once but little by little has and will yet continue to come. The Book of Mormon is another Testiment of Jesus Christ. While reading in that little book I felt the love of My Father in Heaven and I know that with his help everything is going to be ok, a hope came to me. I asked myself as I read in the Book of Mormon what it was saying in regards to my own conversion. I wanted to know and the Holy Spirit testified to me that it is true. I know that everyone can know, just as I have come to know, that this is The true Church of Jesus Christ today and forever. I know it.

How I live my faith

The way I help others at this time is by helping others to come unto Christ. I help them by sharing my beliefs and by going about doing good and working hard to help them know that I love the Savior. Although I am not perfect I know that the Savior will help me to be a good example to my Brothers and Sisters round about me.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

We love the Lord so much. We try to do our best to honor him. That said we try to dress in our best. We also celebrate most every holiday if not all holidays. My family would in all reality also at times celebrate other random holidays found on the calendar. Have you ever heard of "National Pig Day?" My family and I have become so much closer as we found excuses to be together. It does not have to be on a holiday to be together but it is fun when there is a holiday too. Many wonderful experiences have followed. I love being with my family and that I believe is one of the great customs that the Church has helped my family to have. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Each man and woman holds a special role in this world. The reason that women in the Church do not hold the Preisthood in the Church is because this is not the role the Lord would have them play. However they still play a large part. There is an organisation called Relief Society. In that program the wonderful women of the Church help so many to have food warmth and love in their homes and even just in their own lives. I am unsure as to why everything occurs but I know that the Lord is incharge. Pray and ask God if this is true. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe that grace is the only way that we can receive ultimate happiness. However; we do believe that we must follow the commandments and do the things that God askes us to do. It is like a young child that wants to go to the Fair. A loving parent will at times say, we will go to the fair if you will clean your room and get along with your brothers and sisters. The parent knows that the young child will not be perfect at the tasks and will, based upon how well the child followed the rules, reward the Child the chance of going to the fair. So in effect because the parent loves the child he/she will allow for a type of grace based upon whether the child was trying or not. Although the Lord does not send us, black on white, either to the fair or to timeout this example can show that "we are saved by grace after all we can do." Show more Show less

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

One way that the church helps around the world is by sending food to those in need. If, for instance, there is a natural disaster in some area in the world many times the church will be one of the first to help the survivors. We also help others learn more of their relationship to God and what they need to do in order to live with Father in Heaven and their families again. Each person on the earth is special to our Father in Heaven, He loves us. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The Lord has an important level of cleanliness that we in His church must follow in order to go into the temple. We believe that it is one of the most sacred places on the earth. There are no secrets. Any member of the church that is living in accordance to the commandments of God are able to go to the temple and participate in the ordinances that take place within. It is a very sacred and special experience that I testify will help you come closer to God. I invite you to do all that you can to become a member and to live worthy and participate in the ordinances that take place inside. See what you learn. See what you feel. See how your relationship with God improves. Show more Show less

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Mormonism is just another name for our beliefs. What we believe in is a loving Father in Heaven and in His Son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Spirit. We also believe that there is more after this life and that we are here to prepare to meet God. We prepare to meet God through Faith in Jesus Christ and in His Atonement, Repentance, Baptism, receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the End or doing all that God asks us to do and repenting all along the way. How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

One of the ways this problem in the world could be solved would be to use our agency correctly. Pornography is like a parasite, it holds on to you until you are completely destroyed. Usually when we have a parasite we need to get some extra help from doctors in order to resolve the problem. Like a parasite some people with this addiction to pornography may need some added help. The Lord can help us to overcome. He places leaders in His church that will be so happy to help because it will save the peoples lives. As each of us actively stay away from pornography or parasites it is a lot harder to become ill because of them. Stay away from pornography and this disease will be stopped. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

We as Mormons believe in the Bible because we know that just as the Book of Mormon was written in the Americas the Bible was written in Jerusalem or surrounding areas. The Book of Mormon actually states very clearly that if we believe in the Book of Mormon than we will believe in the Bible and if we believe in the Bible than we will also believe in the Book of Mormon. We also know that if you believe in the Book of Mormon and The Bible than you would absolutely have to believe in Jesus Christ. The Bible helps us to know of Christs ministry and holds wonderful sacred scripture for us to learn from, as does the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Mormons are not perfect, however many of them have gained a true desire to help others. We as members of the Church have missionaries proselyting because we know that the beautiful message that is shared will bless the lives of all those who will hear it and will act of the teachings thereof. I love Gods children and I hope that I might be able to help them and missionaries proselyting is just one of the ways in which we know that Gods children can be helped. Show more Show less

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

We want everyone in the whole world to join the Church. It is a message of Joy and we know that all of Gods children need this message. Every single person in the world would benefit from this message. No matter what race or color that any individual is they are welcome to come and be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Lord has allowed the Preisthood to be given to every worthy male member over the age of 12 years of age. Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

We are called a cult sometimes because people might not understand us all that well at times. They may have heard that Mormons are strange and do this or that but when they come and see for themselves I know that they will see that we love others as ourselves, that we want to do good things in the world and that if that is strange I am happy to be strange then, because it blesses so many peoples lives. What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony could be considered a knowledge that no person can give or take away from you. It is knowing that something is true because of a spiritual witness of it. For example I know that God lives because I have felt His guidance in my life, although I have not seen Him in this life I know that He is helping me. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Husbands and wives can be together forever. Each of us go through trials in our lives. Some may seem to be much greater than others. A friend of mine lost a parent. I am confident that they will be together again though. I know that the surviving parent will be with her husband again as well. We believe that families are forever. We know that Heavenly Father loves us so much and wants us to be happy. We will be able to live forever and happily with our families as we and they live the commandments of the Lord, apply His teachings to our lives and do the things that are needed to obtain all that the Lord has in store for each of us. We can be happy forever! I know that is true. We have so much going for us. We are born to win, and the way we win is by following God and being able to live with Him again, with our families.
