Hi I'm Patrick

I'm a Brother, I'm a son, I'm a potter, I'm a nerd, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew Up in a little town nestled on the mountainside with 3 Brothers and 1 Sister I am an avid potter and have been doing that for around five years I love Raku firing, camping, exploring, working hard, serving others, but most of all my Savior

Why I am a Mormon

Well i grew up in the church but i never knew or even wanted to know it was true until i was about 17. You see the fact of the matter is no one can live off of a borrowed testimony. I had found a certain emptiness a depression or sadness in my life and was looking for answers i kept on praying for an answer and it took a while but it came over time it was the first time i had actually read the Book of Mormon and prayed with real intent my answer came like this i was reading the account Joseph Smith gave of his first vision to someone else and the Holy ghost witnessed to me it was true i didn't see an angel or even Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ but what I felt was unmistakable. That day the holy ghost witnessed to me that Joseph Smith was a prophet that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God and that the Priesthood of god has been restored to the earth. The Depression the loneliness and the hopeless feeling i had before was replaced by happiness joy and a sense of belonging. I know now that i am a child of god and he loves all of his children

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example of Jesus Christ in all i do or at least i try i live my faith by trial and error i fail a lot and mess up and sin and do a lot of things wrong but i know that my savior lives and that i shouldn't wallow in self pity so i do just what my mom tells me to do brush off and try again i also live my faith by helping others come unto Christ by helping them receive his gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, Repentance, Baptism, The gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the end i love the lord and i love gods children as best as i can

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

well you see the church that Jesus Christ Set up in the bible was built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets and so when man decided to reject his teachings and the teachings of the apostles they killed them and destroyed the church Christ had set up as a result of that particular event over many years of translations and changes the bible lost some of the plain and precious truths it contained and without the priesthood which is the authority to act in the name of God for the Salvation of his children people had no right to change what they did and so Heavenly Father Reached out to his Children again to bring them out of darkness through the Restoration of the original church Christ Set up with the apostles and Prophets Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

we believe that by grace we are saved after all we can do(2 nephi 25:23) also we learn in James chapter 2 that faith without works is dead so both are necessary, faith without work is dreaming work without faith is drudgery and work plus faith is a dream fulfilled. Brigham Young said that faith without works is much like praying to god to have a good harvest but never taking the time to plant the seeds or till the ground or work in the field. Much like anything in life if we are hoping that we come across a well paying job yet we sit on our duff and do nothing all day we will never find it. However we cannot make it to heaven on our own, take me Patrick for example even if i do everything i can i will inevitably fall short and won't make it back on my own and that's where Christ comes in, grace does not eliminate personal responsibility however Jesus commanded that all men must repent and follow him Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

well according to Jesus Christ except a man be born of water and of the spirit he CANNOT enter into the kingdom of God so what about all those people in the congo and in the amazon who never even had a chance to hear about Jesus Christ are they just left without any chance. That doesn't seem very fair to me. baptism is a physical ordinance and so standing in proxy for those who have passed on we are baptized for and in behalf of them. The doctrine of standing in proxy must be accepted by all Christians because That is what Christ did for us he suffered in behalf or in proxy for all of our sins trials hardships and everything we would ever go trough in this life Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

God our father created adam and eve, not adam and steve. Homosexuality is what destroyed sodom and gomorrah. To put it simply God does not make mistakes it says in genesis "male and female created he them" and the lord has also said what God has bound together let no man tear asunder Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

the book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion it is another testament of Jesus Christ and it is the only way you can know that these things are true you must read the book of Mormon and pray about it. the book of Mormon tells of the ancient inhabitants of the America's and the prophets that god called there and their witness of Jesus Christ that he is our savior and redeemer the holy one of Israel the Son of God and if you read it it will improve your life a billion times more than you can ever imagine it will draw you to Christ and to follow him and i know its true Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I really do believe there is a prophet and that God speaks to and loves and guides us today i know he is the same yesterday today and forever and that he has worked through prophets in the bile like moses and that he works through prophets today like Thomas S. Monson. I have prayed and asked God and he has let me know. If you haven't prayed about it do it there is no other way to know. Show more Show less
