Hi I'm Sara

I grew up in Montana. I love backpacking and fly-fishing, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey, I'm Sara. I am currently on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am serving in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. I went to college at the University of Montana and the College of Technology. I love music, and have played the piano since first grade. I love hiking, water-skiing, backpacking, fly-fishing and just being outdoors. I use to play lacrosse and was the goalie for the first women's lacrosse team in Montana. I love my friends and my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I came to a family (through adoption) who were all LDS, and they taught me the Gospel. I am so thankful for that. Having the Church in my life has given me strength and direction in my life. It has helped me through tough times, times of loss and grief, and through the good times as well. I decided to become a member when I was eight years old. My father baptized me. I knew then as I know now that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. I was never forced to go to church, I went because I wanted to. I read the Book of Mormon all the way through by the time I was 10 years old, I prayed to Heavenly Father, and recieved a spiritual witness that it was true. The Book of Mormon IS true. Joseph Smith did restore this church to the earth, and Thomas S. Monson is the prophet today. I know that God is our father, and that He loves all of us. I know that Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God and that He did atone for our sins, and made it possible that we may return to live with Him someday. I know that Christ died and was resurrected, HE LIVES! And because He lives, we too will live again! All of us. I know that if you pray to God, He will hear you and He answers back. Sometimes the answer is no, but I know that He knows best because He has the whole picture. I know that if we put our trust in God, we will never be led astray.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following God's commandments. I'm not perfect, but I try each and every day to become better. I play hymns in our weekly meetings at church. I'm not particularly good at it, but I try my best and I get by. I love to be involved in the community as well! I have participated in teaching Flagship, an after-school program, and do other service activities as well. I try always to be mindful of others and their needs and help out where I can.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Sara
Being a woman, and being mormon, I would say that mormon women are women with divine nature. We know who we are, and it shows in the way we live our lives. We are daughters of God; that does not make us less than men, we are equals. We hold different responsibilities than men, but they are of no less importance. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Sara
Being a member of the Church brings joy into my life. It provides answers and direction, it provides truth. Sometimes I get scoffed at for the things I believe, but most of the time, people, especially friends, are really accepting and grateful that I am a Mormon and even help me keep my standards. Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Sara
No, the Church does endorse any political parties. It does ask us to study out the issues and be informed. We are free to vote for any candidates we so choose. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Sara
Faith is something that cannot be seen, it is something felt, but it is a firm belief in something that is true. Faith that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world is a gift we recieve from God. It can be hard to describe the feelings of faith, it is a bit like trying to describe the taste of salt to someone who has never tasted it before. Likewise, the only way to know what faith is, is to experience it for yourself. Faith isn't just a belief though. Faith always leads to action and requires action in order to gain it. One way we can gain faith in Jesus Christ is by asking God for it in prayer. When we ask God in sincerity, He will give us the things we are asking for as long as we are willing to act on the answers we recieve. We can also increase our faith in Jesus Christ by studying His words which are contained in the Holy Scriptures and following His commandments which are found there. We believe that the scriptures are the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine and Covenants. Show more Show less
