Hi I'm Dan

I am a husband, a dad, and a corporate trainer. I grew up in the mountains and now live near the beach. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have a great family; two boys and a girl. I work for a large US financial firm. I enjoy spending time at the beach, traveling, and baking sweets.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for two reasons: I was born into a family rich with a heritage of faithful service in the Gospel. I continue to strive to be a Latter-Day Saint because of the strength, focus, and direction I find in staying close to the teachings of Jesus Christ, however those teachings are delivered.

How I live my faith

My wife and I are very involved in our ward. She leads the women's group and I assist the leaders of the ward in the administration of our ward. At home we strive to lead and teach our children in the light of the Gospel. We pray every night together as a family and look for ways to serve each other to demonstrate our love for each other.

How does the Church finance its operations?

Part of what I do for our local congregation is collect the tithing from our members. This is done confidentially and individually. In other words, there is not a communal box or plate, each member accounts for his or her donation. Each week as we review the contributions made to the Church, it is both amazing and humbling to see how freely people give of their own free will, to build and sustain the church. By each member voluntarily paying 10% of one's income, the Church is able to build and maintain church buildings, temples, and sustain other physical needs for the Church. In addition, many times these donations include monies above and beyond the tithe for assisting the poor and needy for both members of our church as well as others in need across the globe. How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Simply put, find out who He is. Study His life, His word, and then believe Him. Trust that Christ is all that is claimed in the scriptures, and try to live His teachings. As you do so, your faith will grow because you will feel drawn to improve your life because it feels right. Your spirit knew Christ before this life, and the word of God will rekindle this familiarity as you ponder them, and put them into practice. Once you get on this path, you'll be eager to stay on it, and get back on it if you slip, knowing you have such a trusting Friend to help you every step of the way. Show more Show less
