Hi I'm Karl

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a life long member of the church. My parents converted to the church shortly after their marriage. I am a printer and have worked in that trade for over 30 years. I am married and we have 6 children and 6 grandchildren. My favorite hobby is making movies. Most of my movies are about family vacations, family events (such as marriages) and Boy Scout trips. I also love being a worker in the St. Paul Minnesota Temple

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the teachings of the church and because I love the life style that the gospel provides for us. I have talked religion with people from many faiths and I have found that members of this church really believe in their faith in a unique and wonderful way. Members of the church understand who they are and understand their purpose in life. I feel that the Holy Ghost is very active in the church and have had many spiritual experiences where the joy of the spirit gives me unspeakable joy and gratitude. One of the unique features of this church is that every member has a calling or responsibility. These service opportunities have helped me grow in so many different ways and have given me so many wonderful memories. The most important reason that I am a Mormon is because I feel that the church is truly Jesus Christ's authorized organization on the earth. Through it's teachings and authority I have found a path in life that I love. It has helped me discover the mercy and love of my savior. I have discovered in my life a most loving and forgiving God. I feel that he listens to my prayers and I know that he watches over me and my family. I love the church because I love my Heavenly Father and his beloved son Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good husband and father. I live my faith by serving in the church. One of my favorite service opportunities in the church is called home teaching. Home teaching involves visiting assigned members of the church on a monthly basis. It really is an opportunity to be with friends to talk about the wonders of the gospel and get to know people better. I also like to volunteer in the church such as singing in the choir. One of the best ways for me to live my faith involves worshiping as a family in our home. Each day we pray and read the scriptures together as a family. Each week we spend time together in what we call "Family Home Evening". Family Home Evening involves singing hymns, reading scriptures, having a gospel lesson, and praying together as a family. We also take time to enjoy some treats and play some games. I also live my faith through my individual worship. Daily I read the scriptures and say my prayers. I also enjoy studying the gospel through other good books and materials. I can't imagine my life with out the joys of personal worship.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Karl
Mormons love the Bible. We believe the Bible to be the word of God. Our interpretation of the Bible is a very literal interpretation. I personally have read the Bible many times. I love the stories of faith and devotion found in the Old Testament. I especially love the story of Moses because of the incredibly intimate relationship that he had with God. In addition to Moses I find many personal heroes in the Old Testament. I love to read of the life of Jesus in the New Testament and marvel at his wisdom and compassion. Each Easter I read of Jesus last week as he taught the people, as he was betrayed and as he suffered for us in Gethsemane and on the cross. And then the incredible miracle of his resurrection. I love the Bible! Show more Show less
