Hi I'm Michael

I am a Chinese. I am also from Taiwan. I'm American. I'm a musician, student, talker, and a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My story is a bit confusing. Although I was born in the US, I have spent half of my childhood in Taiwan thinking that I am a native in that island. It's a very cool experience to have the best of both worlds. I have he opportunity to learn Chinese growing up, enjoy the food and culture of it all and also still enjoy an American life that many of my friends did not enjoy. I enjoy music, and spend a large amount of my high school career playing Jazz on my alto sax and singing. I had a Saxophone quartet, Jazz combo, master classes, men's quartet, music clubs and I could go on and on but its obvious that music makes a large portion of my life. I also enjoy writing piano music to sing for other people. I went to a year of college majoring in Business Management in a large private University. I enjoy school a lot. I love talking about math , science, business, politics, economics, and music. I can talk to you for hours about my passion and really love being with people because they are just the most wonderful creationand combination in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm a Mormon? You may ask because I'm Chinese that enjoys art, cultures, music, and drama. Well, the answer really lies in the fact that through this Church I know came to know that God really wants these things for me and I can bless other people with my wide variety of experience and knowledge in all these things. This religion helped me embrace my culture. As part of our religion, we year for our ancestors and believe that families are the most important thing we have on earth. And I strongly believe that is the essence of life. More than anything though, I am a Mormon because of the Book of Mormon. I grew up in the diverse community of California with many different views of God, love, and social issues. To be quite frank, its so times very difficult for me to know what is right and what is wrong because everyone is telling me that there's a "grey" to everything in this world. The Book of Mormon although it does not address directly every questions I've had, I come to know of its truth and it helped me follow the Prophet of this church because I know that the Book is a word of God. People can tell me many different things and I will listen but no one can tell me that the Book is not true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving for this church by sharing the wonderful blessings and message that I have lived and have to offer. I love preaching and teaching from the scriptures whether from the Bible or the Book of Mormon. I love helping other people with school and music. I love tutoring even if I don't get paid for it. I feel so happy when I do these things that sometimes they don't even feel like work at all!

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

This is quite a difficult question to answer. As the Book of Mormon teaches "for there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife: and concubines he shall have none... for if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things” (Jacob 2:27-30). What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Although everyone feels good influences of the Holy Ghost throughout our lives, we must be in the right place at the right time to feel that just like a landline telephone if we paid our bills, connect, and are at "home". However, we have to do our daily activities we can't always be at "home" and we have to leave the landline telephone to pursue life. Through Baptism and Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, our entitlement changes from a landline telephone into a cellphone that we could always receive information from Heavenly Father whenver we are. It's great as long as we have our battery charged meaning that we are worthy to have it always with us! One of the greatest blessings of the gift of the Holy Ghost is the gifts of the Spirit that comes with it. It might sound a little confusing but it's really quite simple. Gift of the spirit is just anything our Heavenly Father has and wants to give to us. It could be knowledge, wisdom, hope, faith, charity, love, obedience, ability to work hard, or anything and everything. We just need to ask for them, pray for them, and work for them. It's been a really great blessing to be able to improve myself everyday through the gift of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
