Hi I'm John Paskett

I am a husband and father of 8 children 4 boys 4 girls. I love helping organizations work smoothly. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up wandering in the mountains and love to hike and fish. My passion for the outdoors led me to raise wild animals. From a young age I raised and tried to tame Magpies, a skunk, a Sparrow Hawk and a Prairie Falcon. When I was 8 years old my Dad took to a ski resort and I was hooked. For nearly 25 years I have been helping leaders and organizations work more effectively. I have a passion for figuring out how to improve "getting things done." I come from a family of yours, mine and ours with a total of 15 children. I am a husband and father of 8 children who are the core of our whole life.

Why I am a Mormon

When my parents were divorced, I went through a real dark period of my life feeling like I did not have a normal family. I envied so many other people that appeared to have a happy, stable family life. At some point I became quite casual about living the commandments. My Heavenly Father allowed me to experience some real darkness and feel the hopelessness and despair that comes from living with the Spirit or Comforter in my life. I learned by painful contrast that a life with God and with the Savior and the Spirit led to total despair and anxiety. As I changed my life which was only possible through sincere repentance and prayer, I felt the tangible return of peace and light that comes from the Savior, Jesus Christ. As I strive to live faithfully to the promises I have made to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, I feel light and peace--the peace which the Bible describes as "peace that passeth understanding." I have learned that the peace and joy that come from living the Gospel gives me strength, hope and courage to make it though any challenge we face--including the intense challenge of raising 8 children in a today's troubled world and society.

How I live my faith

My life is centered on my savior, Jesus Christ. I get many opportunities to serve and share the strength and peace I receive from trying to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. My favorite calling was teaching the adults in our congregation in Sunday School. Currently, I serve as the 1st Counselor in the Bishopric of our ward.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

John Paskett
The Atonement of Jesus Christ extends beyond remission of sins. Many times in my life I have felt the Savior's sustaining influence giving me strength in so many ways. Sometimes the power of Christ is needed to just help us through difficult and challenging days. As the Savior said, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest..."
