Hi I'm Dave

I was born and raised in Canada. I'm an entrepreneur. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I’m Dave. I’ve been married for 25 years to my beautiful wife who truly is my best friend. I have 5 children and one grandchild. I love my family and count my blessings everyday to be a part of their lives. I’m a business man and entrepreneur. Ever since I was a youth if I didn’t work for someone else I always created my own job. I currently own a manufacturing company that keeps me busy. I have volunteered for over 25 years as a leader in Scouts Canada. I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, and just being in nature. I’m also a bishop in the Mormon Church which also takes a lot of time. Many people say, “How can you serve as a bishop when you have so many other things to do?” It takes effort to balance family, work, and church, but I do it because I have a testimony of its truthfulness and it brings me so much joy and happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were converts to the church and so I was raised in the church my whole life. As with most youth I went through a period where I couldn’t rely on the belief of my parents but needed to find out for myself. I was taught good values and knew how I should live but until I made a personal effort to find out I would never know if it was all true. Putting in that effort was the best decision I have ever made! The gospel of Jesus Christ has taught me so much, has given me direction in a world often filled with chaos, has strengthened my marriage and family, and has given me peace and hope.

How I live my faith

It’s not just enough to believe but you must act on that belief! The gospel teaches us to be of service to others, not just those in our church but those in our neighbourhood, our community, and the world. To be a true follower of Jesus Christ you need to follow His example. That old adage, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is still true today. Serving in the community as a leader in Scouting, and working with youth, has been so much fun! Now I’m serving as the bishop of my congregation, as a lay minister, and it is a big responsibility but it brings with it great blessings. My neighbours know me as a busy father and husband, a business owner, and now as the bishop in my church. They were very impressed with the amount of service we offer to our church and community…and it really is all worth it.
