Hi I'm Derek

I'm a Soccer Player, I love the outdoors, My name has a History, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have an awesome nickname "Skippy". I absolutely love to play soccer and have played for around 14 years. I love to do anything that has to do with outdoors, from snowboarding, wakeboarding, hiking, swimming, and camping. Although I do love to sit down and play a game or 2. My name is a legacy. I am the 9th Richard, its a name that has been passed down from father to oldest son. I am currently engaged to the love of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I am a member of Christ's Restored Church. As I have gone through life I have come to know the difference in having Him and His church apart of my life, and not having it apart of my life. It brings a great sence of Peace and Joy to my daily life, it gives me Hope, helps me strengthen, and build my faith continually. The great love and support everyone has for each other helps me to know that we are all Brothers and Sisters, Sons and Daughters of our Father in Heaven, that he loves us, and knows us personally by name. Also that God loves us enough to not leave us alone. He gives us more scripture to help us in our daily life. The Book of Mormon is another testiment of Jesus Christ and is his word just as the Bible. I have received that witness as I have prayed and asked God our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I teach a class full of 17-26 year olds helping them prepare to serve full time missions for the church. Part of my duty is to uplift, inspire, encourage, bless, motivate, love, and help build their faith in our Savior Jesus Christ, so that they can go out and share the good news of this gospel to all the world. I help set up chairs before our congregation meets, and i am on a activities comitee helping the singles have a good time! I am also a home teacher. A home teacher is one who goes into the homes of people in the congregation, to check up and make sure they are doing well, and teach them the doctrine of the church.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Derek
Since we beleive that Baptism is a saving ordinance that must be done here on this earth. This is for those who pass on to the next life that never had the chance or opportunity to be baptised. We are then in our sacred temples baptised for them by immersion. They will then have the opportunity to accept it on the other side or not. Our Heavenly Father is a loving God, and wants everyone to have the same equal opportunitys for all of his children. For his purpose is to bring to pass immortality and eternal life of man. What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Derek
We Beleive that Baptism is a Saving ordinance that must be performed in order to enter into the Gates of Heaven. We follow the perfect example that Christ has set. We are Baptised by immersion. As we are Baptised we enter into a Covenant or Promise with our Heavenly Father to always keep the commandments, remember his Son Jesus Christ, and endure to the end. Show more Show less
