Hi I'm Alan

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. My wife and I just had a baby girl. I can solve a Rubik's Cube. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Life is busy as my wife and I just had our baby girl born to us recently. We were hoping that she'd be potty trained and able to feed herself from the get go, however apparently it doesn't work that way. We love her and she's keeping us busy. Both my wife and I are full-time students. I'm completing my MBA and she is working on her degree in Interior Design (you should see how nice our home always looks!). Earlier this year I decided that I put off too many of my goals, so I began training for a marathon. I've been taking piano lessons for a few years now (although my family can certainly argue as to their effectiveness). Life is busy, but rewarding and fulfilling. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I'm the youngest of five children. All my family are Mormon, so I was "raised" in the faith. Pinpointing one particular moment when I decided for myself this is what I wanted is difficult. Just like most things in life, my belief and faith came experience upon experience. I recall deciding at a young age that I wanted to read the Book of Mormon from beginning to end. As I began reading I felt something difficult to describe in words. As best I can say, I felt an incredible sense of peace, joy, and contentment. From this experience (and many others) I have come to recognize the sweet feeling of the Holy Ghost. I have learned to trust and rely on this knowledge. It is through these feelings and experiences that I have come to know of God's love for me, as his son. To know that His Son, Jesus Christ, died (and lives!) for me. To know that His Holy Spirit guides me. To know that he has called prophets today, as he did in former times. To know that the Book of Mormon testifies of the truthfulness of the Holy Bible. To know a hundred other things of which I am absolutely certain. In a world of shifting morals, it is reassuring to have an anchor upon which to rely. I thank God for the knowledge he has given me. I strive everyday (well...most days at least) to be better and live as He would have me do. What a blessing that comes with a knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is in my life.

How I live my faith

I have been given tremendous opportunities to serve over the years. I have served as a full-time missionary, a teacher in various roles, a leader, and even was in charge of picking up hymn books!! By having a responsibility, I have grown and felt needed. I believe this is what the Lord requires, namely a willing heart and mind. I strive to serve others within the church, and in my own community as well.
