Hi I'm Travis

I'm a Mormon, a husband, a father, a Soldier, and a law student.

About Me

I am married to my best friend, and we are the parents of three. I am in the US Army and have worked in various jobs including military police, intelligence and field artillery. We have enjoyed living together in beautiful places such as Hawaii, Washington, and Virginia. We've also experienced the difficulties that are associated with deployment while I was in Iraq. My wife is an amazing woman that has been raising our children beautifully, whether we’ve been together or apart. I am currently attending law school and will practice with the JAG Corps upon graduation. My foremost hobby is spending time with my family, but I also enjoy personal fitness / endurance events...Tough Mudder here I come!

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born to Mormon parents, the answer goes much deeper than this for me. Faith is an individual, not an inherited, trait. It had to be right for me. Most simply put- I need a Savior in my life and I need the fullness of His Gospel. I have prayed and received a witness that this Church is the place to gain that, but, more importantly, I have seen my life change for the better as I have lived the principles of Jesus Christ that the Bible, Book of Mormon and modern prophets teach me. I feel like the answer to this question was best summed up for me by Simon Peter when Christ asked why the apostles were not leaving Him like other followers had. Simon Peter replied "to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life." John 6-68. It is in this Church that I gain the fullness of Christ’s words of eternal life-something I dearly need.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as a ward missionary with my wife. We try and take this as a challenge to discuss the Church with anyone that is interested or even curious.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Travis
God has a plan for us. He desires that we can become like Him. While that may sound startling to some, I have found it to be one of the most empowering principles of my faith. I am unlike God in so many ways, yet God knew that I would be. He sent Jesus Christ to atone for this. In essence, Christ paid for my mistakes. He allows me to partake in His perfect life whenever I repent after having fallen short. Through Christ, the miracle of returning to God is possible. The atonement allows me to have a purpose-driven life.  Show more Show less
