Hi I'm Erica

I'm a small-town girl, I teach children mini classes at an elementary school, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a very beautiful ranch in a rural, mountainous area. I love sports, music, reading, and most of all, my wonderful husband. I have a bachelor's degree in Child Development and am currently preparing for a master's in Children's Literature. I currently teach mini classes at an elementary school's after-school program. We do all sorts of cool stuff--soccer, jewelry making, cooking, summer crafts, and so much more! These kids bring out the energy and creativity in me! Really, they force it out of me... I didn't think I was very creative at all. I've been married almost five years and am expecting a baby boy in a couple months. My European husband is both excited and nervous to have our very first child. We see other people's children and think, "Will our baby be like that? Will he do that, too?" We both pray that he will be more like me... ;-) Before we face the responsibility of caring for a human being, we adopted a kitten from a nearby pet shelter. We weren't really sure what we were getting ourselves into, but he has been the source of many laughs since we brought him home. Hopefully our human baby doesn't grow up as quickly as our kitten is growing.

Why I am a Mormon

When you ponder life, the universe, and everything... it just makes sense that someone had to organize it all--bring it together. I have studied other religions, and find I identify with many of them--they teach many truths. But of all the religions, this one, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, makes the most sense, and has the most truths of any I've ever studied. God gave us the capacity to distinguish between right and wrong. Sometimes it takes a lot of thinking on our part to get there, but if we do think, we'll get there. As I listen to the teachings of this church, I think about them. And I've found that nothing has ever been more logical to me than the doctrines of the LDS church. The messages shared here are those of love, progression, and total and complete happiness. Who wouldn't want that? Who wants to live in misery and insecurity? Not cool. Because of my faith in God and what I have learned in THIS church, I know who I am, what I'm doing here, and where I'm going. And who I'm going with. As a bonus. It's amazing. Life is amazing. And I love it.

How I live my faith

I currently work with the youth in my ward, specifically the young women. I take turns teaching on Sundays, and organizing fun activities during the week. We teach them to stand up for what they believe in, strengthen their relationships with their family members, and become more like Christ in every way they can. The most effective way for me to teach the youth these things, is to show them, by doing them myself. I am not ashamed of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love my Heavenly Father and the family He has blessed me with. I learn so much about becoming more like Christ through communicating with Him on a daily basis, inviting Him to teach me, and serving others the way He did as best I can. I know that I am living a good life because of my faith, and I could not be happier!
