Hi I'm Nate

I'm a husband, father, Mormon and a scientist

About Me

I have a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters. As a recent graduate I am struggling like many people right now with providing a secure future for them. I work part-time as a post-doctoral researcher at a university in biomedical research and I am trying to start a small business. I often feel overwhelmed by my responsibilities so I like to relax by reading a good book, playing basketball, or sleeping.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an active Mormon family and very much appreciate the foundational belief in Christ that my parents provided for me. That belief has grown into a deep faith because of small, simple, frequent, and personal experiences with God. The experiences have taught me that God lives, that He loves us, that he made the ultimate sacrifice for us, and that everything we need to understand his plan for us is available through restored truths. As a scientist I recognize that none of the evidence I have acquired is sufficient to convince or prove to anyone, other than myself, that these things are true. I believe God made it that way for a very good reason.

How I live my faith

Christ was direct in teaching how to exercise faith: "Come follow me". I try to follow Christ by copying him to the best of my ability. I regularly visit members of my congregation to see what their needs are and address them as I can. I try and share the hope I have in Christ with those who may need hope. I also firmly believe that education is one of the best ways to alleviate suffering and I try to be involved in educational service where I can.
