Hi I'm Van H. Cowart

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

A frustrated musician, I've been involved in music all of my life in one way or another. I play a Guild 12-string and play "old" songs at different venues and, especially, for old-folks at assisted-living centers and retirement centers. I've written some tunes and had a couple of songs on a LP (remember those?) back in the early 70's, and more recently put 7 original tunes on a CD project. I'm a grandpa. My sweetheart is the joy of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a presbyterian. While in high-school I became aware of the church through a girl-friend. Later, in jr. college we met again. She brought the missionaries into my life and after six months of "investigating", I joined the church. Why? It answered questions that burned in my heart. Most important of all, one night, upon my knees, the spirit bore witness to me during prayer that the Son of God is my Savior, my Redeemer, that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. That testimony still to this moment burns within my soul and in my mind as if the events that created it occurred just yesterday. I am a Mormon because it is the only true and living church.

How I live my faith

Awareness of who I am, and my relationship to God and to His Son stays at the forefront of my mind day and night. Living my faith, having prayer, family home evening, trying to keep the commandments are part of everyday life. Living my life IS how I live my faith. Having a celestial relationship with my wife is the foundation of happiness and if one needs be, the success in life that keeps it all together for me day in and day out.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?
