Hi I'm Billy

I am a true southerner, a father, a husband, a gourmet cook, a baseball and football fan. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Billy and I live in Georgia. I play and watch baseball. Love the Braves. I love to cook. I am always experiment with new foods and will try anything once. I like to travel and I would like to skydive one day.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason Ia m a Mormon is that the Gospel has brought so much peace into our lives. Before I join the Church I was always so depressed and thought things would be better off without me. I use to blame God for everything. But all that has change. Back in March of 2008 two great young men came knocking at my door. There names were Elder Steven Peterson and Elder Brandon Johnson. Elder Peterson first words were after I open the door were we just came by to tell you that "God Loves You". I said do what, they introduce themselves as missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. At that time I said what is a Latter-Day Saint. I did not put Mormon and LDS together at that time. So we made an appointment for them to come back. However when they left I look up Latter-Day Saints, and found out they were Mormons. I said oh no, my parents always told me do not talk to Mormons they will brainwashed you and take away your women. But I now know better. Well the missionaries kept coming back and we really got to know the Gospel and the Book of Mormon. It took a couple on months to get the courage to attend church, but I did finally in May of 2008. My family and I enjoyed church so much. Everyone was so great to us and so friendly. My family and I was baptized on July 5, 2008. We were confirmed members on July 6, 2008. Those two days were so great. I realized what I have been missing so long. My family and I were sealed for all time and eternity on July 8, 2009 at the Las Vegas Temple. I know now those two missionaries were sent by the Holy Spirit to find me and my family. I thank my Heavenly Father every day for those two young men for following the spirit and also being so patient. At that time I had so many questions, they would answer them everytime. I have read the Book of Mormon so many times since then and I get blessings everytime I read it. I have learn so much about the Gospel and I know that God Loves Me and Jesus Loves Me.

How I live my faith

I attend the Covington, Georgia Ward. My family and I am very active in the church. My first calling was a Ward Missionary, and now I am a Assitant Ward Mission Leader. I love my calling. I love talking to people about the Gospel. I do not meet a stranger and I love going out on teamups with the missionaries. My wife and I are also responsible for the bulletins each sunday and my wife is now the Ward Librarian. We have Family Home Evening every Sunday night instead of Mondays because of work. We always pray together everyday and study the scriptures everyday. I also substitute in the primary when there is a teacher out and I also help out the Church leaders as often as possible when they need me. I am a hometeacher of 4 families and I have 4 great families and they are wonderful. I live my life according to Jesus Christ standards. I always put others first and always ready to lend a hand. Church is very important to me and I now know what true happiness is.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes. Without Prophets guiding us toward Jesus Christ standards everyone would be saying different things about the Gospel. A Prophet helps us be prepared for the Second Comin of Jesus Christ Show more Show less
