Hi I'm Heidi

I love my family, I love life, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to try different things! I enjoy baking, trying to cook, web design, Irish Dance, playing the piano, gardening, photo editing, and having fun in general! I graduated from college in August 2010 with my associate's degree in Computer Information and Technology with emphasis in Computer Programming, and am working teaching Irish dance (I was the the 2010 AAIDT Champion for my age group) and also working as a QA Tech. I am married to my sweetheart, and I love being married! We were blessed to be sealed for time and all eternity in the Temple. We just had our son, and he is another great adventure!

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the church all my life, but didn't gain a testimony for myself until I was 11. I had some hard experiences with not having friends at church, and it wasn't fun for me anymore. I decided I had better find out for myself if the church was true or not, because I didn't want to waste my time doing something that I didn't like. So I started praying and studying harder and more consistently. I did this for a really long time, without getting an answer. My parents supported me while I tried to find out for myself by finding me scriptures, praying for and with me, and finding quotes from the Prophets. I didn't ever have an AHA! moment, I just realized like a light turning on in my brain that the gospel made me happy and feel peace, even if church wasn't fun for me sometimes. And then I decided that if living the gospel made me a better person, I was going to go ahead and live it, and eventually I would know for sure. When I was 14 in seminary, we came across John 7:17, If any man will do his will, he will know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. I realized I did know the gospel was true, because I had been living it. I know the gospel is true, and I know Heavenly Father knows me. The gospel brings joy and peace into my life, and the happiness I gain from obedience is worth any sacrifice I make. Life is wonderful and full of hope! I love the gospel!

How I live my faith

I am currently the Mia Maid advisor, teaching the girls age 14-15. They are great examples to me! I'm also a Visiting Teacher, and visiting teaching is a great time! I love visiting the sisters I teach, and it's so fun to not just teach them about the gospel, but also to see what's happening in their lives. It's a great time to make new friends.

What is being a Mormon like?

It's amazing. There's nothing quite like being a Mormon. Sometimes people believe that Mormons don't have a lot of choices because we choose not to smoke, drink, we choose to be modest, just to name a few things. The choices we make through obedience to the commandments actually give us more freedom, because we don't have to worry about consequences coming back to kick us later. There are always consequences for our choices, as life can tell you, but the commandments protect me. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

YES! Husband and Wife may be married for eternity. And YES! Families will be families for eternity! That joy is found in the Temple. Just like you wouldn't show up to a formal dinner in jeans and a t-shirt, preparation is required to be able to qualify for the blessing of attending the Temple, and being sealed as a family for eternity. This is definitely one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE parts of the gospel! I know that we can be a family in heaven, after this life. I cannot imagine heaven without my wonderful husband and my darling baby. I know that my love for them will just keep growing stronger, and any other children we might have, and I love that I will continue to build that love forever. Show more Show less
