Hi I'm Clark

I'm at home on the ski slopes, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love skiing and the outdoors. Mountain biking, hiking, I love anything outdoors. I'm currently studying accounting as an undergraduate student, and I have always loved learning!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon church and always agreed with what I was taught, but when I was younger I wasn't sure if it was just what I was born into or if it was really for me. While I was a senior in high school I was given an assignment to help organize a summer youth activity for several churches in my area. As preperation we invited all of the youth to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover. Seeing as I was helping organize this activity, I felt obligated to read the Book of Mormon myself. I had read most of it on previous occasions, but never from one end to the other. As I was reading and approaching the end of the book, I began to wonder if God would "manifest the truth of it unto me by the power of the Holy Ghost" Moroni 104 pg 529 as Moroni promised us he will Moroni was the last prophet to write in the ancient record which was later translated by Joseph Smith. A week or so before I finished the Book of Mormon I was sitting in my church services listening to a speaker when an overwhelming feeling of peace and comfort came to my heart, and I felt as it were a voice whispering to me "you already know this is true". From that moment forward I have known within my heart that this is Christ's church on the earth once again. Since that day I have sought to spread the joy that this church has brought me. I know that you too can know the Book of Mormon is true by the power of the Holy Ghost if you will but study it and pray with sincerity.

How I live my faith

One way I live my faith is through serving others. This means a lot of things to me, not just weekend service projects. Learning is something that I love, and the only thing more rewarding than learning something new is helping someone else learn something new! Consequently, I try to volunteer as a tutor whenever possible, as I can share what I have learned with others.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Christ taught we must be born of water and of the spirit such is the teaching of our church. When we are baptized we start a new life and commit to follow Christ. As we are baptized we enter into a covenant that we will stand as a witness of God at all times. Sacred covenants such as baptism must be performed by the proper priesthood authority the authority to baptize was restored to the earth when John the Baptist appeared to the Prophet Joseph on the banks of the susquehanna river. Those who are baptized will then be confirmed as members of the Church of Jesus Christ and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. Most commonly this ordinance will be performed the sunday following one's baptism. This ordinance is often referred to as the 'baptism of fire' or the 'baptism of the spirit'. The seperate yet connected nature of Baptism and Confirmation is clearly shown in the 8th chapter of Acts. Show more Show less
