Hi I'm Alex

I'm a Mormon, a doctor, a husband and a father of three.

About Me

I'm a doctor working in the south of England. Aside from medicine I'm also a qualified SCUBA diver and a saxophone player (although not a very good one haha), as well as being a son, a brother, an uncle, a husband and a father.

Why I am a Mormon

I once had a lively discussion with someone about the differences between her beliefs as a Mormon and my beliefs as an Anglican, which I was at the time. She said to me that if I wanted to understand why she believed what she did, I would have to read the Book of Mormon. So, never one to turn down a challenge, I decided to read the Book of Mormon alongside my Bible and I also decided that I would take special care to note down all of the problems and inconsistencies that I found within it. After reading the Book of Mormon I was much less willing to reject it out of hand. Being an academic, I tried to use reason to decide whether I should remain an Anglican or convert. I liked being an Anglican. It was only when I turnt to the Lord in faith that I was shown what I should do... now I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My faith touches every aspect of my life. My work can often by physically, mentally and occasionally emotionally taxing. The knowledge and understanding that I have gained through exercising faith in Christ strengthens me on a daily basis. I have no doubt that it makes me a better doctor, husband and father.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The Bible is Holy Scripture and the Word of God, insofar as it is accurately translated. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

The simple answer is that we should have faith in Christ. To many this seems like just a vague notion. Faith necessarily includes the idea of hope. To have faith in Christ as our Saviour is to have hope that He will save us from our fallen states and bad decisions, which hope can only truly come from following His commandments and living the way that we honestly feel to be right.
