Hi I'm Laurie

I'm from Southern California and live in Arkansas. I have 9 grandkids, I'm an occupational therapist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family. I have a wonderful husband, five great kids, and nine grandkids. I love any hobby that has to do with the outdoors: camping, backpacking, kayaking, swimming, biking, running, jetskiing, four-wheeling, etc. I work with the Red Cross disaster team and teach CPR and first aid. I'm also in the master gardener program. My husband and I have started a health and fitness foundation in Arkansas. I'm a pediatric occupational therapist. I have too many interests to keep up with them all. I like to enjoy life-- to keep it fun and meaningful.

Why I am a Mormon

I have Mormon pioneer ancestors on both sides of my family, but I don't just follow blindly. I sought out the truth for myself by praying and searching the scriptures and asking God to confirm my beliefs through the Holy Ghost when I was a young teen. I remember really searching in the scriptures, praying with great earnestness, and going through my own intense spiritual introspection very early. I wanted answers to eternal questions and did receive them. I was willing to do whatever God required to know Him. He has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams. I am grateful beyond measure to Him for my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to know Him and know of His love for me, who I am, where I came from, and what my eternal goal is. It's a beautiful thing and gives me tremendous peace and a great desire to share His Gospel with all His children.

How I live my faith

I've had many callings in my church, including working with the nursery children, teaching Sunday School classes to children and adults, teaching in the women's organization, organizing girls' church camps, and being president of the children's organization. I have enjoyed all of these callings. I also enjoy volunteering in the community, working with Red Cross, Master Gardeners, and starting a fitness foundation in our state. To me, living my faith means loving others wherever I am. Working with and helping people is how God shows His love for us as well as how we show our love for God and His children. I always feel such a great spirit when doing service... I think everyone does. If we stick to ourselves and don't look for opportunities to serve, we deprive ourselves and others of so much! We can do so much good in this world, and I need to do so much better at serving others-- thus serving Heavenly Father.
