Hi I'm Brooke

I grew up in California. I'm the mother of 3 boys and 1 girl. My husband and I now live in Virginia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I am a wife and mother of 4. My kids are between the ages of 2 to 12. Being a mother is hard, but my husband and I are doing the best that we can. The church and gospel helps me everyday to be a better mother or at least "want" to be a better mother. Life is so busy sometimes that I don't know if I can do everything that I feel I need to. I just try to do the most important things and hope that in doing that, the rest will follow. I love my family. I also love to read, quilt, cook, walk, and spend time at the beach. (Especially with a book in hand.)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in this church, but at some point, I had to find out for myself if the church was true. Many years ago, I remember sitting in the bay window of my bedroom. I was looking outside and listening to a song called "You're Not Alone," by Michael McLean. It wasn't a particularly good day and as I sat there, an immense feeling of peace came over me. The spirit was testifying to me that I would never be alone. No matter how hard things seemed or how difficult life could be, I would always have someone near. I knew right then that I could make it. I could overcome all my trials. I had the gospel and I had a family that loved me. The Lord was always mindful of me and what I was in need of. It is a simple memory and a simple experience of the spirit touching my heart. However, I have relied on that memory many times as I have gone through the trials of life. No matter how strong our spirit, trials are sure to come. I am so thankful for having been raised in the gospel by parents who loved the Lord and did all they could to serve Him and others. It is through their example that I have seen the light of Christ in my own life. I know that my Heavenly Father is real. I know that my Savior, Jesus Christ, died for me! I know that there is a living prophet on the earth today who leads us and guides us as the Lord sees fit. I know that it is the prophet, Joseph Smith, who aided the Lord in bringing the restored gospel to this earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and the words within testify of these things. I know that the Bible is also true. I am so thankful for the "always available" communication I have with my Heavenly Father. I go to my knees in prayer often with gratitude that I have the knowledge I need to make it back to Him and those I love. This is my testimony, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

One of the things I love about our church and gospel is the opportunity we have to serve others. I have had the opportunity for the past 4 years to work with the girls in our area, ages 12-18. They are an incredible bunch! Life is a hard journey for them in this world, but I love to see how the gospel helps them in their daily trials. I get to be with them every Sunday and one day during the week we get together for some fun activities. It is great to be a a part of their lives and to let them know that if they need anything, I am here to help. I now have the opportunity to work with the women in our church, ages 18+. I don't think I help them nearly as much as they help me! It is so nice to be able to be with a group of women who I can talk to about ANYTHING. I have the opportunity to serve these women as well. Every month I go visit some of these women in their homes and just chat with them. We become friends and then help each other whenever they need it. This church has an amazing group of women!!!
