Hi I'm Brett.

I'm 10 (15?) years older than I look. I have no hobbies other than spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in south Texas, then moved to New Jersey when I was five. When I was ten, my family moved back to Texas, this time to Dallas. After high school, I spent one year at Brigham Young University, then went to Guatemala to spend two years as a missionary. Afterwards, I returned to BYU to finish a BS degree in microbiology. While at college, I met and married my wife Katie (she's from Las Vegas). We spent a few more years in Utah, then moved to Sacramento, California for five years. We now live in Cincinnati, Ohio where I work in the food and beverage industry. I've had great experiences living in and getting to know people from different parts of the world. People sometimes ask me what I like to do in my free time. That's when I tell them I have four kids. They usually sort of nod, acknowledging that answers their question (I don't have any free time). Then they usually say I don't look old enough to have four kids. I wouldn't have it any other way. My family is my life. I do try to spend just about whatever free time I have with them, and there is plenty we can do together. We go on bike rides, go to plenty of basketball/soccer games, and campouts are fun too. Sometimes it's just reading a book together. We are a musical family; I play the trumpet, my wife plays the oboe, English horn, and piano. She has been teaching our kids piano, which is great. I also enjoy singing and arranging choral music. We are happy and have been very blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both Mormon, and I was raised that way. But that's not the only reason I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I found out for myself that it is Jesus Christ's church. That has come through reading, studying, pondering and praying. If you take the time to find out what this Church is all about, then sincerely ask God if this is how He wants you to live, you too can get your answer.

How I live my faith

I don't leave the house in the morning without praying for guidance for the upcoming day, and I end each day on my knees thanking Heavenly Father for all of my blessings and asking for forgiveness for the times I've messed up. Between that morning and evening prayer, I try to live my life in a way that is pleasing to my Savior. My faith motivates all that I do; it's who I am. It's not just a religion I'm a part of or a church that I go to. I really try to live my life based upon the principles and doctrines I know to be true. It is wonderful to know there is a God who has a plan for each of us, and if we do the things He has asked us to do, we'll be happy in this life and in the next life. And I know when we fall short, we can be forgiven of our sins thanks for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
