Hi I'm Sierra

I'm a friend, sister, wife, and teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a teacher and a wife. I love hiking, dancing, reading, and smiling! I currently teach 7th and 8th grade language arts at a private school where I love to be silly, inspire struggling readers, and instill in my students a passion for learning. I enjoy traveling, spending time with family, and giving service.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because I know the church is true! Simple as that. Just as scientific laws can be tested to verify their correctness, the laws of the gospel can be tested as well. I have put into practice the principles and standards of the gospel of Jesus Christ and have found a better, happier, and more fulfilling way of life. I have studied the church doctrines, read The Book of Mormon, and asked God himself if it is true; I cannot deny what I know. The church is centered around bringing people to Christ and there is nothing I would want more for my family.

How I live my faith

My faith is my way of life! I try to live it by serving my family, serving others, and trying to become a more Christ-like person. I want more than anything to make a difference in the lives of those around me. Faith is something that has to be more than skin-deep: It affects the way I treat people at the grocery store; the kind of language I choose to use when something frightens or upsets me; how I spend my spare time; and the way I approach hardships. My faith is a liberating and hopeful component of my life that makes each day brighter and more worthwhile. I would not trade it for anything in the world.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Sierra
Absolutely! I know that God loves us, just as He loves those who lived in ancient times. If He loved His children enough to send them prophets to guide them then, why wouldn't he send us prophets now? In a world that is ever shifting and changing, we need inspiration and guidance for our time. In our day the prophet is Thomas S. Monson. Just as God directed His children through prophets like Noah and Moses, we have a prophet who receives direction from God for us today. I have listened to his words and applied the teachings and I know that he is a prophet of God. But you don't have to simply take my word for it: Listen to the words of living prophets, study their teachings, and you can find out for yourself. Show more Show less
