Hi I'm Haley

I am studying Hebrew and Greek. I strive every day to follow Christ. I keep blog. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a student in my Junior year of college. I am an Ancient Near Eastern Studies major with a Greek/New Testament emphasis. Essentially this means that I have the privilege of learning the languages that the Bible was originally written in and then I have the opportunity to read and translate the original text of the Bible. I love both the Old and New Testaments so much but my desire is to teach the New Testament at a college level. I cannot think of a better way to spend my life than teaching students about the life and ministry of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Life has not been easy for my family as I have grown up but I love them all so much and am grateful for each of them. I have a twin brother who is currently living with our dad . I also have a 17 year old sister that lives at home with my mom and my step dad. I think out of every one I have learned the most from my mom who joined the Church when she was 12 years old. Her testimony is obvious and I know she is proud that, like her, I have chosen to serve a mission for Jesus Christ. I love any thing that makes me laugh. Mostly I just love spending time with people. I also love to write and read any thing that is uplifting and inspiring. My family members are avid hikers. I love to be out in nature and, believe it or not, one of my favorite things in the world is to spend an afternoon out on the lake, fishing.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I am Mormon is because it is my life and I love my life. Being a member of His Church brings me such joy and peace. It helps me to know that I am a valued and loved child of God. That I have a loving Heavenly Father and selfless Savior who watch over and protect me. I have been a member all my life but like many who have converted I also have had to figure out for myself if this was the right Church for me. I decided to figure out if I wanted to commit myself to my faith at the age of 14. At that time I realized that I did not have a testimony of this Church and the doctrines it taught. So, I decided to read the Book of Mormon. From that experience I can testify that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ, re-established upon the earth after it was lost in the death of the original twelve apostles. I love what the Church teaches about families. That if we live our lives the way we should and go through the proper steps, we can be together forever with the ones that we love most in this life. My faith has taught me that God wants to give us that things that we desire if they are good and right in His sight. I have come to believe in a Savior that loved me so much He suffered, bled, and died for me that I might have the same opportunity to be resurrected and return to live with Him and our loving Heavenly Father. God communicates with His children today as He did in Old Testament times. I love my Savior. I cannot imagine being more content with my life.

How I live my faith

Most of my callings in the church have involved music. I have played one musical instrument or another since I was nine years old (starting with the piano). Unfortunately I did not keep up with it and my most recent pursuit has been the saxophone, which I played for seven years. Since I was involved in marching band in high school I became very comfortable with leading music and often times this has become my calling in Church. At college I was responsible for leading the music in our main worship service (called Sacrament meeting). I also took time to be in my ward and stake choirs. I think music is a wonderful way to spread the spirit of our Savior and to bear testimony of Him. I know have the privilege of teaching the 9-11 year old girl's primary class in my ward. I enjoy learning from their sweet spirits. It is such a blessing to have this calling before my mission because it is teaching me how to love deeper and share the gospel in simple ways.
