Hi I'm Larry

I have a wife and six wonderful children, and eleven beautiful grandchildren. I work in sales, love sports and I am a Mormon

About Me

I was raised in a very strong Mormon family. My father held many leadership positions including a Stake President (2 times) and a Mission President. I have lived in California, Florida, Utah, Georgia. We will be moving to Alabama soon. My wife, Carol, and I have six wonderful children, four of whom are married. We have two grandchildren and hoping for many more! My employment over the past 25 years has been mainly in the computer software industry. I currently manage a CNC Machine shop making parts for jets and missiles. My passion right now is to help teenage young men and women read more so they do better in school. Especially the young men. I attended Brigham Young University where I earned a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in a strong Mormon family gave me a strong foundation in the church. As I have gained life experiences and been exposed to other religions, I continue to ask myself if this is still the church I want to attend. The answer is always yes. No other church that I know of has the depth of doctrine, additional scripture, modern revelation, priesthood, temples, and all the other things that make this church unique in all the world. We are a christian religion, but we expand the role of Christ more than the other christian churches. I truly believe that being a Mormon will make me happier in the long term than any other option that's out there.

How I live my faith

I teach an early morning scripture study class for 9th and 10th graders every week day. We meet at 6:10 am and go for about 50 minutes. My class consists of 9 students and we actually enjoy the time we spend together. We sing, pray, have discussions, play games and memorize scriptures. It's a great way to start the day. This is my second year of teaching.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No- Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. That's why the name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joseph Smith was a prophet much like Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, or Noah in the Old Testament. He was the person who was chosen to restore the original Church of Jesus Christ back to the earth with the same authority (Aaronic & Melchizedek Priesthood), Organization (12 Apostles, Elders, Seventies, Priests, Teachers, and Deacons etc.) and ordinances (i.e. baptism and other ordinances). He brought to the world The Book of Mormon which he translated by the gift and power of God from an ancient record that was written in another language many thousands of years before. If you like to read the Bible, then you will love The Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith was nothing more than a man but nothing less than a prophet. He received revelations and taught the people the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was the first prophet of many of these latter-days. The men who were chosen to be prophets since Joseph Smith were just as honorable and worthy as Joseph was. These men have been prepared by many years of church service and refinement to lead the church during their time. We honor all of these prophets like we honor Joseph Smith. The name of the prophet and President of the Church today is Thomas S. Monson. Show more Show less
