Hi I'm Kaelynn

I am a music therapist and aunt to ten adorable kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a music therapist. I love to go camping, watch movies and spend time with my friends. My life revolves around God, my family, and music. I love life! God has been so good to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church. My testimony was built line upon line, very slowly, but I didn't truly understand it until God intervened very powerfully with some life-changing decisions I had to make. Because of those experiences, I know without a doubt that God knows who I am, has a plan for my life, and wants me to be a member of His church. Every decision in my life from that point has been based upon that knowledge.

How I live my faith

I go to church and activities for young adults. I try to attend the temple as often as I can.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Ultimately, no one knows the answer to this, and God does not tell us His reasons, just as He does not tell us the reasons for many things. We can only speculate. My personal opinion is that the culture of the world in this time does not do enough to encourage men to take responsibility and behave like men of Christ. The Church places that responsibility of leadership upon the men to give them that opportunity. Women are natural leaders, teachers, and healers. Men need an opportunity to develop those gifts, because this world does not encourage them to do that. No matter what the reasons, though, men and women are equals in the Church. Men and women have different responsibilities but they are equal before God. Show more Show less

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Joseph Smith was the founder of the Church, but it was not his Church. It is a restoration of Christ's church the way it was in the Bible. Elements of Christ's true church, such as baptism by immersion, prophecy, spiritual gifts, and apostles were lost over time. Joseph's calling was to bring back those things. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Baptism is a commandment of God that symbolizes being reborn as a member of Christ's church and having your sins forgiven. It is a commandment and a law of God, so it must be done God's way and by His authority, which is the priesthood held by worth members of the Church. Show more Show less

How does the Church finance its operations?

The Church finances its operations through the law of tithing, which is an Old Testament law that requires ten percent of income. Members give voluntarily. No one in the Church is paid for their service. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Grace and works together are necessary for salvation. Grace is the helping power of Christ, and we can't get anywhere without it. We know that we cannot make it back to God's presence without Christ's grace, and we cannot do what we need to do every day without Christ's help. Nothing we do would be of any worth without the Atonement of Christ. We also believe we have a responsibility to do our best to keep God's commandments. However meager our efforts, we must do all we can, and Christ fills in all of our gaps. "It is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

NO. That was practiced for a very short time in the 1800's by a few members of the Church (it was a personal calling from the Prophet) and when it was no longer needed, it was ended. Those who endorse and practice polygamy are not members of the LDS Church. They might be part of little spin-off groups and call themselves "Mormons," but they are not part of our church. How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

By the missionaries and their families. Future missionaries are encouraged to save throughout their lives for their missions. Local congregations can also support missionaries. Ultimately, the money the missionary and his or her family pays to the Church is put into a common fund, the Missionary Support Fund. This is used to support missionaries throughout the world so that all missionaries are able to pay the same amount, whether they are sent to a rich or poor country. MSF money is used to pay for the missionaries' homes, telephones and groceries so the missionaries can focus completely on their work. Show more Show less
