Hi I'm David Bennett

I'm a United States Marine and convert to the LDS church.

About Me

In 2003, three months prior to joining the Marine Corps, I began meeting with the LDS missionaries. In 2004 while serving as a Marine in Iwakuni, Japan I was baptized as a member the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Marines and LDS church provided me with a great foundation because it taught me how to serve others, while persevering through my own physical and spiritual challenges. When I joined the Marines I had goals but no real direction. In hindsight I believe the Marines and LDS church gave me the direction and ability to find what I was looking for. Subsequent to my four year enlistment, I began to have a greater appreciation for my family as I reflected on deployments and the love and concern that was shared. It became clear that my family helped me become who I was. My family supported my beliefs because of the ways they had seen me change and grow. My faith is my life and through the atonement of Christ I am encouraged everyday to live better as a disciple of him who gave his life for me. I have gratitude for all the Lord has blessed me with. I am married to a beautiful, self-less women who I have the privelege of sharing my life with. I have two adorable and fun loving boys, ages 2 and 4. I have been blessed with the education required to become a licensed physical therapist and be able to serve others and share the spirit I feel daily.

Why I am a Mormon

I have found great blessings and strength through the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know it to be true and because of my faith and perseverance God has blessed me and will continue to.

How I live my faith

I live my faith and renew my testimony by attending all of my weekly meetings, by magnifying my calling and doing my very best to find time during my day to serve and lift others. I strive to read my scriptures and pray at least daily and find ways to focus my thoughts on the savior on a continual basis. In addition, I also try to visit those whom I am assigned and look forward to others visiting with me. The Lord's church is a house of order and I try to replicate that very same order in my personal life by planning events, activities and opportunities of service, in addition to daily study and praying. I also live my faith by recognizing I am not perfect and continue to submit myself before God for forgiveness. I do all of these things so that I may be in-tune with the spirit, be an instrument in the Lord's hands and thereby know what it is he would have me do.
