Hi I'm Lauren

I am learning to teach children to sing. I love to cook good food and read beautiful books. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a music education major at a small, liberal-arts college in Minnesota. I'm the oldest of three children. I sing in choir, and dance in a ballroom club. I keep intending to do NaNoWriMo, but I never actually get around to it. However, I'm on my 23rd journal, which I've been keeping since high school. I also make epic potstickers and am really good at Scrabble.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, thanks to awesome parents. I have never really had any moments of doubt about whether or not the Church is true. Everything about its teachings make sense to me, both in relation to how I view the world, and how the teachings interact with one another. Beyond the logical reasons behind remaining in the Church, there are the intuitive and the emotional reasons. The gospel of Christ is such a perfect, joy-filled gospel. Being part of it makes me happy, and helps me understand how to share that happiness with others. Heavenly Father wants all of us to have joy, and this gospel is one of the ways that He has provided that possibility for us. I believe, without any doubt in my mind, that it is true.

How I live my faith

My school is predominantly Lutheran, so although there is a strong thread of Christianity running through my school, there aren't a lot of Latter-Day Saints on campus. I try to stand as an example of what it means to be LDS, and try to answer any questions to the best of my abilities. At church, I'm the choir director. My choir is very small, but I'm still proud of them. In the church, I've also served as a pianist, class president, and Sunday School teacher, and loved all of those callings as well.
