Hi I'm Rob

I've lived in Oregon most of my life. I enjoy music and hanging out with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 28 and have been married to my wonderful wife for 5 years now. We have two awesome boys, and I love spending time with all of them. I am currently working full-time and going to college full-time. It's a challenge, but taking online courses really helps with the busy schedule. In my spare time, aside from spending time with my wife, chasing my boys around the house, or cleaning the yard, I really love playing music, and occasionally playing some video games.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon home. My parents joined the LDS church before I was born. I always believed everything my parents taught me. But, it wasn't until I was 18 years old when I finally realized, and knew for myself that that what I've been taught, regarding the church, was true. I was challenged as a young man to read the entire Book of Mormon from cover to cover, over a certain period of time, and then at the end, to pray to Heavenly Father and ask if the book was true scripture or not. I read it. It was not easy. Especially with the distractions of that age (hanging out with friends, etc.). But I read it. I remember while reading it the feeling of importance that this book is. That the prophets who wrote it truly wanted us to know Jesus Christ. After I read it I remember praying about it, and nothing came right away. But over the next few days, as I discussed my reading with family and friends, I felt that what we talked about from the book was scripture. I felt a feeling of love and peace, that I knew came from my Heavenly Father. I've come to rely on that feeling, that I know to be the Holy Spirit, to help me know if things are true or not. That is also how I knew Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and why I continue to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ today.

How I live my faith

I try to be a good example to all those around me, especially to my family. In order to do this I try to attend church every week, and actively participate in other church activities. In church I am a teacher for the 11 year old boys in our ward. I enjoy it. I also get to work with these same boys in scouts and help them learn outdoors skills and how to be better young men in the community. It's fun, and I find I learn more from them, then they probably do from me.
