Hi I'm Ron

I'm a father of five. I turn wood. I profess accounting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have four sons, and one daughter all under the age of ten. Consequently, when I'm not at work I spend a good amount of time being a tickle monster, hiding and seeking, holding children, explaining things, and jumping on a trampoline. I enjoy playing a variety of sports with basketball at the top of my list. I also enjoy juggling, camping, and yard work. I enjoy making wooden tops. I also enjoy my job of teaching and researching accounting in a university environment.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon for a lot of reasons, but I'm primarily a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is true. I have read that book many times. I have prayed about it many times. I always feel like a better person when I read it and pray about it. If that book is true, then Joseph Smith must have been a prophet and must have seen and experienced all that he claimed to see and experience. If he is a prophet, then this church must be the church that Christ established on the earth, which has the Priesthood Authority to perform the saving ordinances that will enable me to come closer to God in this life and in the life hereafter.

How I live my faith

I live my faith mostly by doing the simple things that I learned as a child: taking time to listen to people who are having a hard time, helping my children learn to read, reading scriptures on a daily basis, praying for those in need, sharing my time and possessions with others, visiting people that are in need, and enlarging my circle of friends.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Ron
A testimony is a witness of truth learned through the Holy Ghost. It frequently includes a witness of the Savior's divine mission and our relationship with Him. It may also include a description of the events that lead to the gaining of that witness, such as the feelings that come from reading the scriptures and praying about them, or the blessings that have come after the application of a teaching to your life.
