Hi I'm Spencer

I've lived in Portland and Utah. I'm a children's media consumer. I'm a 'Mormon'!

About Me

I'm a university student who hopes to make a difference in the lives of youth and children. Because my life's been shaped by such an experience, I feel it'd be nifty to run a children's arts organization, and that's what I'm pursuing in my studies. Currently, I'm working on writing and illustrating a few picture books. My friends and family are very important to me.

Why I am a Mormon

The doctrine the church teaches is true! There are pure, simple ideas here I know are real. I know where I came from before I was born. I know where I can go when I die. I know the whole purpose of everything is so we all "might have joy". Families and the good things can last forever. The ethic principles the church teaches lead to the highest quality of life I can see. There's so much hope, if we'll only believe there is a "happy ending" with a Heavenly Father who loves us so much, hasn't left us in the dark forever, and is a real person with a real body and real feelings. Jesus Christ makes it possible through ways I understand, yet can't comprehend. The Holy Ghost whispers to my soul it's real and directs me to follow this path.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by loving others as Jesus Christ would have me. I notice that so many people in the world don't feel God's love for them. That's sad, because it's so important to know that you have a Heavenly Father who loves you. He wants you to succeed against all the odds! I know if we can help one person know there's someone who truly cares about them, we've done a lot.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes! Despite popular ideas, Mormons are Christans. I'm so grateful I am! I couldn't do it without Christ. Show more Show less

Faith is like trust. I just trust, or have faith, that God watches out for me. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

No. Mormons help everyone who needs help. We try not only to feed people fish, but to teach them to fish, and then teach others to do the same. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes! I especially love the Gospels in the New Testament. The stories in Genesis and the Book of Daniel are also amazing. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. Joseph Smith was a prophet, like Moses or Noah. We only worship God. Show more Show less

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

The tithing we pay is used to help people get an education, pay for buildings, give people tools to do family history, and basically help others out! We choose to give it, and God blesses us when we do. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

I think some people-- really good people included-- just don't understand who we actually are or what we believe. Show more Show less
