Hi I'm Roger Zemp

I am a father of 5 kids, a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Education and learning has been an integral part of my life. I am now a Professor teaching Engineering and doing research in Biomedical Imaging. I enjoy mentoring a team of talented graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in developing new imaging technologies. I enjoy developing technologies that don't presently exist now, and being involved in multidisciplinary research that is as cutting edge as possible. I have many opportunities to travel to different parts of the world and have enjoyed learning about different cultures and customs. I enjoy the outdoors and love biking and hiking. I love the mountains. Out of all the things that keep me busy, however, the thing that I treasure most of all is my family: my beautiful wife and five children.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I had to find out for myself if I believed it. I have had so many experiences that have taught me that it is true. In brief I have felt a warmth and light and a personal feeling of love from my Savior as I have prayed about the Book of Mormon and other doctrines unique to our faith. I have also felt this light guiding me to do more good as I have tried to live the principles of our Gospel.

How I live my faith

Church is a pretty central part of my life - my faith is entwined in my every day life. It means family and personal prayers and scripture study (which isn't easy with 5 kids!). It also means serving in church responsibilities and and just enjoying helping others whenever possible. I visit a few families every month to make sure their needs are taken care of and to share a spiritual message. I have also helped organize others to do the same to ensure a large group in our congregation is looked after. I presently work with people to help them discover their family history. Finding out about our ancestors has been a great experience for me.
