Hi I'm Jacob

I like music, I like football, I was never taught how to smile correctly, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm a slacker perfectionist, I love snow and the cold, I'm not photogenic, I love math and science and I like to laugh a lot.

Why I am a Mormon

I had always wondered about the Mormons. Ok, God exists, but is God a mormon? In the church a lot of times, we focus on the fact that what we believe is true, that it came straight from God. The real shocker for me was when I realized that even if it wasn't true, I would do it anyway. I have found it true that I don't need to be the richest or the coolest or most popular to be happy. I find happiness in reading the Book of Mormon, in praying, in going to church and remembering everything what God has done for me. I could not make it without him, I'll only make it with Him. The church inspires me to live a better life through its teachings. What we believe may sound bizarre or confusing or even crazy, but it's also very good, there's an incredible amount of good.

How I live my faith

God has continually taken care of me and I continually do my best to trust in Him. At time it requires sacrifice, at times it pushes me to the limit, but I always try to trust in Him. I talk to people a lot about what they believe and what I believe. I don't know why, but God's always taken care of me, from the beginning up to this point, and I have no doubt He will continue to do so. Why did He do that? I can't really point at one thing in my life that I did or do that made it that way, instead I think that it is a combination of everything I've ever done that has gotten me to the point I'm at. God loves us all, but I think it's true that the more we reach out to Him, the closer He'll come to us.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I have seen evidence of God in my life. In accidents that result in good. In supposedly coincidental and chance situations that change my life for the better. I am absolutely sure that these things are not chance encounters, but God's divine grace and influence having effect in my life. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

If there's one thing I am sure of about the church, it is the book of Mormon. Mormon was a man, the book was put together by him, it's not about him. I know that the Book of Mormon is God's words to each of us, I feel like He's talking to me as I read. The only difference between what the Book of Mormon teaches and what the bible teaches is that you've never read the Book of Mormon each completes the other's thought. The Book of Mormon, like the bible, was given by God to His children. The difference being that it was given to those in America, on the other side of the world, during the same historical period. The one solution to bad days, to my anger, to yet another failure, is reading the Book of Mormon. Do you ever just feel like you're missing something? Do you ever feel like you wanted something, you just weren't sure what? I have, and I do. The Book of Mormon fills that hole in my heart, it gives me peace, It makes me who I am.  Show more Show less
