Hi I'm Ashley

I'm almost a nurse, I'm an aunt of 7, I love apples, running, cooking, I speak Romanian, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors especially with my family, when I'm not busy studying for nursing exams. I love learning about the world. June 2011 I left home, school, and work behind to share my testimony of the restoration of the gospel with people in Romania and Moldova. Helping people realize the miracle. We can find peace and happiness through Jesus Christ. I love to go for a run outside, make and eat yummy food, and spend time with my friends, nieces and nephew, or 9 brothers and sisters!

Why I am a Mormon

I was super blessed to be born into a family that is already full of faith in God and taught me so much about the miracle of the restoration of the gospel. We read the Bible and the Book of Mormon growing up as a family and I decided to read it for myself to find out if it's true... and guess what!!! I got an answer for myself. Joseph Smith was visited by God, our Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ! What a miracle for our lives that we can pray to God to know Him and receive revelation, in our own minds and hearts, and through living prophets-as a Moses or Noah in our day-to help us each become closer to our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ! I know for myself that God loves His children and will answer their prayers. I know Jesus Christ knows my pains and afflictions, temptations and sins and will help me overcome them as I turn to Him and ask. And I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ we can overcome sin and death and one day live with God, Jesus Christ, and our families in Happiness!

How I live my faith

A few years ago I was asked to teach a Sunday School class on the New Testament during church every week-talk about intimidating!!! But I found that through studying the scriptures a lot, using a study guide manual as a guide, and praying a ton, it was an awesome experience. I think that I learned the most out of anyone in that class... because I was mostly just leading a discussion on gospel principles and learning from those way more experienced that I. It was awesome. I spent time as a full time missionary, teaching and sharing the gospel in Romania! Now I'm on to more adventures serving in lots of different capacities being stretched beyond my own limits, but Heavenly Father helps me see that He can help me do all things with His help.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Ashley
Yes it's true! And what a marvelous truth, that Jesus Christ, is not only the Savior of those who lived in Jerusalem, but He visited other areas of the world to share with them the blessings of His authority and His Saviorship. "Have ye any that are sick? bring them here.... Have ye any that are lame? Bent in pain? bring them here... He asks us to come to Him, but He's always accessible. Whether we live in Romania, Idaho, or South America, Jesus Christ is our Savior and comes to us, as we strive to come to Him! We can truly come to Him one by one and be healed! and be Happy! What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Ashley
We are saved by grace, of course... and only by the wonderful divine grace of Jesus Christ. However, we do not have access to His grace unless we do as He asks. "Behold ye are my friends if ye do whatsover I command you." John 15:14 Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Ashley
Well, let's just say that I grew up in a household where men's work and women's work were not differentiated around the house. I have three brothers, but the girls often worked harder than the boys. And I don't hesitate to say that I can outwork most of the boys I have worked around. I study hard, I work hard, and I'm not afraid to do the dirty work or earn some money, and I don't doubt the capability I have to be very successful. But I also recognize that spiritually as well as physically men and women are different. Not less, not more, but different. And I recognize a great capability I have to lead in the home as a righteous mother of children. To raise them up in love and righteousness and it is the full desire of my heart to be a mother that can help her children be successful, smart, and lead the world in righteousness. I will be educated, I will be strong, and I will be a leader, and I will do it right alongside my husband who will be a righteous priesthood leader in our home. Not a step ahead, not a step behind, but as a team. Our differences will give each of us an advantage, and our children will have a fullness of opportunities because of that! I'm so happy to be a woman and I know that it is a divine and eternal role! Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Ashley
We believe that God, as a God of love and mercy, is also a just God. And He sent us here to school to learn and grow and be tested and to get ready for our final examination. Just as at any school or college (that has any decent reputation) there are specific requirements for graduation, for promotion to further education and growth, as it is with the school of life. God does place requirements on us. One of these is baptism, and it must be performed in the manner that He says and by the people to which he gives power to do so. And just as we would fail a class unless we fulfill the necessary requirements. So it will be if we don't fulfill God's requirements. But He is just and merciful and will give us every chance, if we choose Him! And what a beautiful blessing that through this act we are cleansed from all our sins and made clean and perfect in His eyes. And that He gives us the gift of repentance to continually progress and improve, when we inevitably make more mistakes. Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Ashley
Heavenly Father's plan is clear from the beginning. Adam and Eve, man is not with the woman, woman is not without the man. We will all have temptations and make mistakes, but yielding to any temptation is not accepted of God. That's why He provided commandments and help to keep those commandments, and then repentance to go back and try harder. He will NEVER allow us to be tempted above that which we can handle. Accept God's plan, Live it, and you WILL be happy! I promise! No matter how hard it is at first. TRUST HIM! Pray and ask Him and He will show you His love and His promise that it will work out! Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Ashley
I think if it had been a requirement I wouldn't have served, in fact if I had even been expected to go I don't think I would have gone either. But the fact that God asks me in His own way to go about doing good in the way that He wants and that I feel is best for me, is good enough for me and I am grateful for this gift. It truly is a gift and I wish that more people could understand that. It is a labor of love, hard work, and all for the progression of ALL God's children. Show more Show less

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Ashley
Honest seekers of truth asking God and receiving answers, from Him that this is His true restored Church and the way to find more peace, happiness and eternal truth! If you're wondering, ask HIM who knows. Matthew 7... :) He is a good Father willing to give us good gifts! Show more Show less
